Ozzy Osbourne Passed Away On July 22, 2025
Just a few weeks after performing a farewell concert with his legendary band Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne passed away at the age of 76.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer had been quietly battling Parkinson’s Disease since 2003, but didn’t go public with his diagnosis until 2019.
His family released a statement announcing his death, writing:
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning [July 22]. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
A few weeks after his passing, Ozzy’s death certificate was released, revealing that his cause of death was caused by a heart attack, with coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s as contributing factors, according to the New York Times.
On July 30, 2025 a public funeral procession through Birmingham, England took place so fans could pay tribute to him together. One day later, a private funeral was held for the icon.
The Osbournes Honor Ozzy On The Anniversary Of His Death
One year after Ozzy’s death, his widow, Sharon, sat down with BBC Radio WM to talk about his legacy. While everyone knows about his impact on the music industry, Sharon wants people to remember “how funny he was.”
She also revealed what Ozzy told her towards the end of his life if anyone was missing him. Sharon recalled, “As Ozzy would say, ‘When you want to remember me, just yank up the music really loud, as loud as you can get it, and just head bang’.”
His hometown of Birmingham, England held its first annual Ozzy Day on July 22 to honor him with pop up performances, commemorative merchandise, and symphonic tributes.

During the radio interview, Sharon was asked why it was important to be in Birmingham on the one-year anniversary of Ozzy’s death.
“Because I can’t forget what Birmingham did for Ozzy,” she replied. “[The city] is such a huge part of my kids and me and everything. It’s who my husband is. What he is. And will always be.”
