Viewers Say This Could Be the Easiest 1% Club Question Ever

A question designed to stump 99 percent of the country left some The 1% Club viewers scratching their heads for a very different reason: they thought it was ridiculously easy.

The ITV quiz show challenges 100 contestants to work their way through a series of increasingly difficult questions, with the ultimate goal of reaching the final stages and answering the question that only one percent of the country is expected to get right.

Get that final question correct, and the winner walks away with a huge £100,000 cash prize.

But one recent question has sparked a very different reaction from viewers, who were convinced it was far too straightforward for the competition.

Host Lee Mack presented contestants with the following sequence:

VCCCVCCCVCCCCCVCCCCCVCCCCC

The challenge was to work out what the letters V and C represented.

Contestants were given just 30 seconds to come up with their answer.

So, how quickly did you figure it out?

The correct answer was vowel and consonant.

Some contestants managed to crack it, while others couldn’t work out what the sequence was trying to show. For some viewers watching at home, however, the answer seemed almost immediately obvious.

One viewer wrote: “That was the 1% question? Tooooooo easy!!!!”

Another admitted they had figured it out quickly, but then spent the rest of the 30 seconds doubting themselves: “I got it, then spent the remaining 28 seconds second guessing myself because there’s no way the 1% question was that simple.”

A third viewer claimed: “I literally got it in less than a second.”

Not everyone had quite the same experience.

One person confessed: “I confidently said 1’s and 0’s like binary code.”

Another said they interpreted the sequence as a keyboard shortcut, writing: “I answered Copy copy copy paste cause thats how I keyboard shortcut cause of my trust issues.”

A third viewer took a rather different approach altogether, joking: “Bro I was sitting here like ‘very cool cool cool, very cool cool cool cool cool’.”

So while the answer appeared obvious to some, others clearly found plenty of alternative ways to interpret the pattern.

Lee Mack called another contestant a greedy sod

The reaction to the question comes after another memorable episode earlier this year, when Lee Mack jokingly branded a contestant a “greedy sod” after discovering he had already won millions of pounds.

The incident happened on June 3, when 54-year-old Lee was hosting the ITV quiz.

Contestant Kevin failed to answer the 90 percent question correctly, bringing his time on the show to an end.

Lee asked him: “You’ve been unlucky tonight, are you usually unlucky?”

Kevin replied that he had actually been “very lucky in the past.”

That prompted Lee to ask what he meant.

Kevin then revealed that his good fortune came from winning the lottery.

He claimed to have won an astonishing £6 million from the National Lottery.

“£6.1 million to be precise,” Kevin corrected him, as the rest of the room cheered.

Lee couldn’t resist pointing out the irony of someone who had already won millions coming onto The 1% Club in pursuit of the show’s £100,000 prize.

“£6 million quid?! And you want another £100 grand? You greedy sod!” he joked.

Kevin explained that he had appeared on the show because he wanted to take on the challenge, although things clearly hadn’t gone according to plan.

“I wanted to come on here for the challenge but sadly not done very well,” he said.
