Strictly star Chloe Hewitt marries horse racing champion George Betts in lavish Cheshire wedding
Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Chloe Hewitt has married her longtime partner, horse racing champion George Betts, in a lavish ceremony near their home in Cheshire.
The dancer celebrated her final night as a bride-to-be with friends before heading into the wedding weekend, sharing glimpses of the celebrations with followers on social media.
In one photo, Chloe was seen smiling at the camera while holding an Aperol Spritz as she enjoyed a pre-wedding night out with friends.
A friend shared another picture from the celebrations with the caption “Wedding eve”, marking the final hours before Chloe and George exchanged vows.
From Strictly professional to bride-to-be
Chloe first became part of the Strictly Come Dancing professional line-up in 2016, joining the BBC show alongside her longtime competitive dance partner AJ Pritchard.
She and AJ had already built an impressive career together before appearing on television. The pair began dancing together after Chloe joined the dance school run by AJ’s parents and went on to compete together for nine years.
Their achievements included becoming National Youth Latin Champions for three consecutive years.
When Chloe joined Strictly, she was among the youngest professional dancers on the programme. She appeared in group routines and also took part in the show’s companion programme It Takes Two. During the 2016 Christmas special, she was paired with Gethin Jones.
Chloe remained with the show for two years before leaving in 2018. Although AJ was regularly given celebrity partners, Chloe did not receive a celebrity pairing during the main competition and instead featured primarily in professional group performances.
At the time, an insider suggested that this lack of celebrity partnerships had worked against her chances of staying on the programme.
“While AJ has done well on the show, Chloe has been skipped over two years running when it came to celeb pairings,” the source said.
The insider added that while other professional dancers were performing with celebrities each week, Chloe had mainly been involved in group numbers and had not been given the same opportunity to establish herself.
George Betts proposed in Abersoch
Away from the dance floor, Chloe’s relationship with George Betts reached another milestone in 2024 when the couple became engaged.
Chloe announced the news on social media with photographs from George’s romantic beach proposal in Abersoch, Wales. She proudly showed off her engagement ring while posing alongside her fiancé.
Alongside the announcement, Chloe wrote: “Still taking this all in… We’re engaged,” followed by an engagement ring emoji.
Since then, the former Strictly professional has kept followers updated as she prepared for the big day.
Now, after months of wedding planning, Chloe and George have reached the moment they had been waiting for, with their Cheshire ceremony taking place this weekend.
Chloe’s journey from the dance floor
Chester-born Chloe began dancing when she was seven and went on to establish herself as a successful competitive ballroom and Latin dancer.
Her partnership with AJ Pritchard proved particularly successful. Over their nine years competing together, they collected major titles and became National Youth Latin Champions for three years in a row from 2012 to 2014.
The pair also reached the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent in 2013, bringing their dancing to a much wider television audience.
In 2016, they both moved into the professional world of Strictly Come Dancing. Chloe’s time on the show was relatively short, but she remained part of the programme’s professional dance ensemble before her departure in 2018.
Her Strictly career included a partnership with former presenter Gethin Jones for the 2016 Christmas special, while she also appeared in professional routines alongside the show’s other dancers.
With her television career behind her, Chloe has continued to share moments from her life with fans, including the journey from her engagement to her long-awaited wedding day.
And after celebrating with friends on the eve of the ceremony, the former Strictly star has now taken the next step with George Betts, bringing their engagement story to its wedding-day conclusion.
The 2016 Strictly professional line-up included Chloe Hewitt and AJ Pritchard, with Chloe leaving the show in 2018.
