Meghan, No Way!!! Kate’s Next Tiara Moment Could Be A Major Royal Turning Point. Princess Kate And Prince William Prepare For A Significant Royal Role As Their Next High Profile Appearance Promises To Put The Future King And Queen Firmly In The Spotlight

Princess Kate’s next major royal glamour moment is now firmly on the calendar — and it will come during one of the monarchy’s most important diplomatic events of the autumn.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman will make a state visit to the United Kingdom from October 20 to 22, 2026, with King Charles and Queen Camilla hosting him at Windsor Castle.

The three-day visit will be the first incoming state visit of the new royal season and is expected to include the traditional ceremonial welcome and a formal state banquet.

Although Buckingham Palace has not yet announced every member of the Royal Family who will take part, Prince William and Princess Kate are widely expected to have prominent roles, continuing a pattern that has increasingly placed the couple at the centre of Britain’s royal diplomacy.

For Kate, that could also mean another highly anticipated tiara appearance.

Another glittering night at Windsor Castle

State banquets remain among the rare royal occasions when tiaras, evening gowns and major pieces from the royal jewellery collection are worn.

That has made each banquet appearance by the Princess of Wales an event in its own right.

Kate had an unusually busy tiara year in 2025, appearing in one at all three state banquets held at Windsor Castle. In July, she wore Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara during the French state visit, before choosing it again for the U.S. state banquet on September 17.

Then in December, she debuted Queen Victoria’s Oriental Circlet during the German state visit — the first public appearance of the historic piece in around two decades.

The October visit by Sultan Haitham could therefore provide the Princess with her next opportunity to bring out one of the royal collection’s most recognisable pieces — or potentially surprise royal watchers with another rarely seen tiara.

No jewellery selection has been announced, and Kate’s attendance at the banquet has not yet been formally confirmed.

William and Kate’s role now goes far beyond the glamour

The Prince and Princess of Wales’ involvement in state visits has become increasingly significant for reasons that extend far beyond the clothes and jewellery.

Both are now routinely called upon to help welcome foreign leaders before accompanying them to meet King Charles and Queen Camilla.

During recent visits, William and Kate have frequently been among the first senior royals to greet visiting dignitaries, effectively placing them at the front of the monarchy’s diplomatic operation.

That responsibility carries particular importance for William as heir to the throne.

Every state visit offers another glimpse of the duties he will eventually assume as King, from personally receiving foreign leaders to representing Britain during some of the most formal diplomatic occasions on the royal calendar.

Kate’s role alongside him is becoming equally prominent as she prepares for her future position as Queen.

State visits have become a showcase for Kate

One of the clearest examples came during the U.S. state visit in September 2025.

William and Kate were given a highly visible role during the ceremonial welcome at Windsor Castle, greeting the visiting presidential party before joining King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Kate again attracted considerable attention later that evening at the state banquet.

Royal biographer Ingrid Seward subsequently told PEOPLE that the Princess was acutely conscious of the attention surrounding her during such occasions.

Seward said Kate “lightened the whole evening” with her presence and argued that the Princess was increasingly demonstrating the qualities expected of a future Queen.

The attention surrounding Kate is not simply about celebrity.

State visits are carefully choreographed diplomatic occasions, and senior royals can play an important role in creating an atmosphere that allows relationships between governments to develop.

Why royal ‘soft power’ matters

The monarchy does not negotiate treaties or make government policy, but state visits give members of the Royal Family a distinctive diplomatic function.

The concept is often described as “soft power” — influence created through relationships, reputation, ceremony and cultural appeal rather than political or military force.

The phrase was developed by American political scientist Joseph Nye, who argued that countries can influence others through attraction and persuasion rather than coercion.

Britain’s monarchy has long been considered a powerful example of that idea.

State visits combine private meetings, ceremonial welcomes, military pageantry and lavish banquets in a setting deliberately designed to make foreign guests feel honoured.

Those occasions can create an environment in which government ministers and officials conduct more substantive political and economic discussions.

William and Kate’s growing involvement means they are increasingly becoming part of that diplomatic machinery.

A historic visit from Oman

The October visit will also carry particular historical significance.

It will be the first state visit to Britain by a Sultan of Oman in more than four decades.

The previous one took place in March 1982, when Queen Elizabeth II hosted Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

Relations between the British Royal Family and Oman stretch back many years, and King Charles already has extensive personal experience of the country.

While serving as Prince of Wales, Charles visited Oman four times.

His most recent trip came in January 2020, when he travelled to Muscat following the death of Sultan Qaboos.

Queen Camilla, then Duchess of Cornwall, accompanied Charles during a two-day visit to Oman in November 2016.

The current Sultan has also maintained contact with the King.

On July 4, 2025, Charles received Sultan Haitham at Windsor Castle for tea and a private meeting during the Sultan’s private visit to Britain.

His return in October will be considerably more elaborate.

Windsor Castle again takes centre stage

King Charles and Queen Camilla will formally host the visit at Windsor Castle, continuing its increasingly important role as the setting for major state occasions.

Windsor was also used extensively for the three state visits held during 2025, an unusually busy diplomatic year for the monarchy.

Britain typically hosts around two incoming state visits annually, but three took place in 2025 — from France, the United States and Germany — something that had not happened since 1988.

William and Kate were prominent throughout those occasions, strengthening expectations that they will once again be closely involved when Sultan Haitham arrives.

Exactly what roles they will perform has not yet been announced.

But if recent precedent is followed, the Prince and Princess of Wales could help receive the Sultan, join the ceremonial elements of the visit and attend the state banquet alongside the King and Queen.

Kate’s next tiara choice could become part of the story

For royal watchers, attention will inevitably turn to Kate’s wardrobe once the banquet approaches.

Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara has long been one of her signature pieces, while her surprise appearance in Queen Victoria’s Oriental Circlet in December 2025 demonstrated that the Princess is increasingly drawing from a broader selection of historic royal jewellery.

There is no indication yet which piece she could choose in October — or even official confirmation that she will wear one.

But state banquets are among the few occasions when such jewellery traditionally emerges from the royal vaults.

That alone makes the visit particularly significant for followers of Kate’s royal style.

More importantly, however, it will provide another opportunity to see William and Kate operating at the highest level of royal public life.

As the future King and Queen take on an increasingly visible share of state diplomacy, the October visit will be about far more than another glamorous evening at Windsor.

The tiara may attract the photographs, but the responsibilities surrounding it will offer another indication of the roles William and Kate are gradually preparing to inherit.
