Harry And Meghan Reportedly Tried To Slip Under The Radar While Shopping For Archie And Lilibet—But Their Low-Key Outing Has Revealed A Fascinating Glimpse Into The Sussex Family’s New Life Back In Britain

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly keeping their heads down as they prepare Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet for one of the biggest changes since the family returned to Britain.

Harry and Meghan

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in the UK with Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, on August 26, with both children expected to begin at their new school shortly.

Rather than making public appearances, Harry and Meghan are said to be focused on the far more ordinary demands of family life — from unpacking and recovering from jet lag to buying uniforms and school supplies without attracting attention.

“They are still unpacking at home and getting over the jet lag,” a source told The Sun.

The insider added that the couple have been trying to shop discreetly as they get everything ready for Archie and Lilibet.

“They’re buying school uniform and trying to buy pencil cases without being spotted.”

Harry and Meghan said to be ‘excited’ about the move

The family’s return marks a significant change after years of living in California.

According to the source, Harry and Meghan are enthusiastic about beginning this next phase of their lives in Britain.

“They wanted to come back, they’re excited about being back and everything that’s to come,” the insider said.

Much of the immediate attention is expected to centre on the children as they settle into a new school and a different daily routine.

For Archie and Lilibet, that means adapting not only to a new classroom but also to life in Britain after spending much of their childhood in the United States.

Meghan said to be ‘100 per cent all-in’

Questions have inevitably followed about how Meghan feels about returning to the UK, particularly given her previous criticism of aspects of royal life and the intense media scrutiny she experienced before leaving Britain.

However, friends of Harry have insisted that she is fully committed to the move.

Writing in the Daily Mail, Alison Boshoff reported that Harry’s friends continue to maintain that Meghan is “100 per cent all-in” with the family’s return.

That commitment could be tested by the realities of everyday British life, particularly once the school run begins.

Boshoff joked that Meghan may find it difficult to maintain the sun-drenched California aesthetic often associated with her As Ever Instagram content while dealing with a rainy midweek morning in Britain.

A very different routine awaits the Sussex family

The contrast between their life in California and their new routine in Britain is likely to be considerable.

For the time being, however, the couple appear to be concentrating on practical matters rather than the wider debate surrounding their return.

Uniforms need to be bought.

School bags and pencil cases need to be chosen.

And Archie and Lilibet need time to adjust before lessons begin.

That relatively ordinary family preparation has apparently become a challenge in itself, with Harry and Meghan reportedly trying to complete errands without being recognised.

Meghan may still have ‘mixed emotions’

Despite reports that Meghan is committed to the move, one former friend of the Duchess previously suggested that returning to Britain could bring complicated feelings.

The former friend said Meghan was likely experiencing “very mixed emotions” after arriving back in the country.

Her relationship with Britain has long been complex, shaped by both major personal milestones and the difficult period that eventually preceded the Sussexes’ departure from royal duties.

Returning with two school-age children therefore represents a very different experience from the life Harry and Meghan left behind.

This time, much of their daily schedule is likely to revolve around Archie and Lilibet rather than official royal engagements.

Archie and Lilibet prepare for their next chapter

For the children, the move could prove particularly significant.

Archie was born in the UK before moving with his parents to North America as a baby, while Lilibet was born in California.

Their forthcoming school start will therefore give both children a much more regular connection to life in Britain.

It also places Harry and Meghan into a routine familiar to millions of other parents — organising uniforms, school supplies and morning drop-offs.

The difference, of course, is that even buying a pencil case can become news when the parents involved are the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

For now, the family appears determined to keep those preparations as private as possible.

Exactly how long Harry, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet will remain in Britain has not yet been made clear, leaving one of the biggest questions surrounding their return unanswered.

But with the children preparing to enter their new classrooms, the Sussexes’ latest chapter in the UK is already beginning in a distinctly family-focused way.
