We all think we’re pros when we get an answer right on a game show, with many of us screaming at the TV and yelling over our cups of tea.
But when we get it wrong, in true british fashion we usually either ‘did know that anyway’ or quite simply, refuse to believe it.
And once again, ITV’s popular The 1% Club has absolutely baffled viewers with one of its classic mind-boggling questions. Check it out here:

The hit quiz show sees 100 members of the public put the common sense, logic and intelligence to the test.
And then any contestant who correctly answers a question that just one percent of the nation got right wins a share of up to £100,000 cash.
A popular TikTok video recently showed one of the show’s 10% questions.
As read out by host Lee Mack, the question goes as follows: “A bat and a ball cost £1.10 in total. The bat costs £1 more than the ball. How much does the ball cost?”
Now, automatically, we’ll admit our minds go straight to an answer of 10p.
But obviously, in the nature of the show, that’s not quite right.

The ball actually costs 5p, as the bat costs £1.05.
And two people on the show got it wrong too, knocking them out of the competition.
To be fair, it is a bit of a headache – which many users on TikTok are suffering from.
One wrote: “I’ve seen the answer and it still doesn’t make sense to me,” and another added: “It’s 10p I don’t care what anyone says.”
Others also wrote: “Why can’t I wrap my brain around it not being 10p.”
And pretty understandably, another said: “This question threw my hangover into overdrive.”
One user tried to explain the answer, even if it still sounds a little confusing: “Basically the bat is 1.05. and the ball is 5p for people who don’t get it it’s 5p add a £1 = price of bat.”

The main thing to understand is that the bat is not £1, it’s £1 more than the ball.
It does make sense eventually, but under the time pressure of the show I’m not sure I’d be making it through another round.
The ITV quiz show is now very well known for baffling its contestants with ‘easy questions’.
In one episode, only 25 percent of the contestants knew the answer to a question that wouldn’t have looked out of place in a primary school maths lesson.
Viewers couldn’t believe it but when people did have a go at it, they ended up pretty confused still.
