Easy Peasy… The 1% Club’s £100,000 Final Question Left Viewers Stunned After Many Claimed They Spotted The Answer Almost Instantly — But The Contestant In The Hot Seat Still Couldn’t Crack It

The 1% Club fans slam final £100,000 question as ‘too easy’

Fans of The 1% Club were left divided after one of the show’s £100,000 questions, with some viewers insisting they knew the answer almost immediately.

The ITV quiz show, hosted by comedian Lee Mack, challenges 100 contestants to work their way through 15 questions of increasing difficulty. Everyone starts with £1,000, but the real prize comes at the end: successfully answering the final question, supposedly known by only one percent of the country, can win a life-changing £100,000.

A 'nervous' Tessa faced the all-important last question.

‘Easy peasy’ for some viewers

During an episode last month, Tessa reached the final stage and was faced with the question:

“Using only two letters to fill in the blank, what is the word below? P _ _ _ E _ _ I _ N.”

Tessa admitted she was nervous as she tackled the question, but some viewers watching at home were far more confident.

One viewer wrote: “Don’t usually get the last question but I saw that one instantly. Easy peasy.”

Another was equally surprised to have cracked it, commenting: “Got it! Blimey I actually answered the 1% question.”

Unfortunately for Tessa, she was among the 99 percent who were expected to get it wrong.

The answer was “possession.”

Viewers eagerly anticipate the final £100k question laid out by comedian and host Lee Mack.

Another episode left viewers baffled

The reaction was very different in another episode from last month, when contestants Maisie and Alex made it all the way to the final question.

This time, viewers were confronted with a maths problem:

“Given that: 0+100 =100, 1+99 = 100, 2+98 =100, what is the sum of all the whole numbers between zero and 100?”

For many watching at home, the question proved considerably more difficult.

One viewer described it as “possibly the hardest 1% question” they had encountered, adding that they would even consider it a “0.1% question.”

Another admitted: “The number ones always get me!”

A third simply wrote: “I didn’t get it. Gutted.”

Someone else decided not to attempt the calculation at all, saying: “I didn’t even try with that one. Maths is hard enough on a calculator for me, never mind doing it in my head in 30 seconds.”

Not a clue.

Maisie and Alex came remarkably close

Maisie and Alex eventually gave 5,000 as their answer.

They were close, but there was one crucial number they had overlooked.

Lee Mack explained that the numbers can be arranged into 50 pairs that each add up to 100: 0 and 100, 1 and 99, 2 and 98, and so on.

Those 50 pairs produce a total of 5,000.

However, 50 sits in the middle and cannot be paired with another whole number in the same sequence. It still has to be included in the calculation.

That brings the correct answer to 5,050.

For viewers who found the maths question difficult, there was certainly no shortage of sympathy online. And after seeing the contrast between a final question some considered “easy peasy” and another that left contestants and viewers scratching their heads, it was clear that the 1% question can produce very different reactions from one episode to the next.
