Meghan Markle Reportedly Wants to Leave Britain for Good as Hopes of a Fresh Start Begin to Unravel
Meghan Markle reportedly thought returning to Britain would give her family an opportunity to turn the page. But barely two months after making the move, the Duchess of Sussex is said to be questioning whether she wants to stay at all. An unwelcome reception, growing homesickness and the realities of rural life are reportedly pushing her thoughts back towards California.
According to sources speaking to RadarOnline.com, Meghan is increasingly longing for the life she left behind in Montecito – and Prince Harry is said to fear that her latest return to Britain could be short-lived.
The Duchess, 45, returned to the UK nearly two months ago alongside Harry, 42, and their two children, Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five. What was expected to be a fresh chapter, however, has reportedly proved far more challenging than anticipated.

A Difficult Welcome Is Reportedly Changing Meghan’s Mind
The family is believed to be staying in the Cotswolds, where Meghan has been photographed visiting local pubs. Yet behind the public appearances, insiders claim the couple have encountered difficulties settling into their new surroundings.
Reports of resistance from some locals have allegedly made the transition particularly uncomfortable. According to one source, Meghan has struggled with the feeling that she is being judged before having a genuine opportunity to become part of the community.
The insider also pointed to reports of pub-goers objecting to Meghan’s presence, alongside complaints about the family’s extensive security arrangements.
For someone hoping to establish a new life, the alleged reception has reportedly been a significant disappointment.

California Still Feels Like Home
It is not simply the reaction from locals that is said to be weighing on Meghan. Insiders claim she is also struggling to adjust to the slower, quieter rhythm of countryside living.
Her thoughts reportedly keep returning to California, where she has the family’s Montecito home, her established circle of friends and her mother, Doria Ragland.
One source told RadarOnline.com:
“Meghan went into this believing that returning to Britain might offer her family a chance to start a different chapter, but the reality has apparently been much harder than she anticipated. California represents everything she associates with feeling settled, independent, and comfortable.
“Britain, by comparison, seems to bring back memories of a period she would rather leave behind.
“What appears to have upset Meghan most is the feeling that she’s being judged before she’s even had an opportunity to establish herself in the community. There have been reports about locals in the pub objecting to her presence, and locals objecting to her heavy security arrangements.”
The contrast between the two countries appears central to the reported dilemma: California offers familiarity and established connections, while Britain has allegedly brought back difficult memories and unexpected challenges.

Harry’s Connection to Britain May Not Be Enough
For Prince Harry, the situation is reportedly more complicated.
Although his relationship with Britain has its difficulties, it remains the country where he grew up – and, according to the insider, a place that still holds personal significance for him.
Meghan, however, is said to feel differently. She does not share Harry’s childhood connection to Britain and has a more established life waiting for her in California.
The source added:
“Harry’s relationship with Britain is complicated, but it’s still the country where he grew up, and there are parts of his life there that he clearly values.
“Meghan doesn’t have that same connection. She has a home in California, longstanding friendships, and a lifestyle she understands, and Harry is now fearing she is set to quit Britain forever.”
With the family’s return to Britain reportedly proving more difficult than expected, the prospect of another major change is now hanging over their plans. What began as an attempt to build a different chapter together could ultimately leave Harry and Meghan facing very different ideas of where home should be.
