Prince Louis is yet to make his official debut in the Wimbledon Royal Box, but the young royal already has his sights set on an unexpected role at the All England Club. While the Prince and Princess of Wales’s youngest child did not attend the Wimbledon men’s final on Sunday (July 12) with his older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, his mum has revealed that the eight-year-old is desperate to secure a specific job on Centre Court.

According to tournament staff, Prince Louis has ruled out watching from the stands and instead wants to work as a ball boy at Wimbledon. Wimbledon ball girl Jenna Fontanilla disclosed that the Princess of Wales detailed her son’s obsession with the role during a meeting at the championships. “She told me about how Louis was asking her about how to become a ball boy,” 18-year-old Ms Fontanilla said. “We were talking about how much hard work it is to be on court and how we work alongside the ball kids”.

The young prince is understood to be taking the ambition seriously, practising the rigid technical requirements at home. A teenage ball boy named Joel revealed that Kate told him Louis has been perfecting his court stance.

“She told me Louis tries to practice the standing and staying serious like us,” Joel stated. “He tries to practice the stands and how we stand at the back of the court and next to the players.”

A future at SW19 is just one of several career paths the young royal has considered. During a public engagement for the Big Help Out initiative, Louis surprised volunteers by expressing a keen interest in the culinary industry, saying he wanted to be a chef when he grew up.

However, the youngster may choose to follow the traditional military path of the Royal Family. Given Prince William’s extensive background as a search and rescue pilot, Louis has also previously expressed a strong desire to join the military as an RAF pilot.

Both Prince George, 12, and Princess Charlotte, 11, were the same age as Louis when they first appeared in the Wimbledon Royal Box. George made his first appearance in 2022, sitting between his parents to watch the final between Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios. Princess Charlotte followed in her brother’s footsteps, making her debut in 2023, where she watched the epic five-set match between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic alongside George and their mother.

While royal fans await his debut at the iconic UK tennis championships, Louis remains a prominent fixture at major national events. He was most recently seen in June 2026, capturing the public’s attention on the Buckingham Palace balcony during the Trooping the Colour flypast.

Prior to this, he joined his parents and siblings for the traditional Christmas Day church service walk at Sandringham in December 2025, and he has previously appeared at milestone historic occasions, including the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee and King Charles III’s Coronation.
