A HORRIFIC confession has been made by the parents of a missing 4-year-old girl.
Police released new information relating to the disappearance of Javeayah Kemauni Harris, involving a 911 call from her parents.
Authorities announced on Saturday that Harris is believed to be dead, and her parents, Johmarea Harris, 23, and Michilae Herring, 22, were arrested in South Carolina.
A widespread manhunt was launched after the child was first reported missing in Aiken, South Carolina, roughly 54 miles outside of Columbia.
“I am deeply saddened to tell you our investigation and evidence leads us to believe 4-year-old Javeayah Harris is deceased,” said Aiken County Sheriff Marty Sawyer, according to ABC affiliate WJBF.
Sawyer announced that the parents were arrested for “homicide by child abuse and filing a false police report.”
An arrest warrant for the girl’s parents said that Harris was left injured after she was allegedly assaulted by her mother.
The details of the injury were not clear, but police believe it is what caused her death.
The warrant also said that the parents confessed to their involvement in her death.
On Monday, a 911 call was released where Michilae Herring can be heard reporting her daughter’s disappearance.
“She was outside playing, and I came out here after cooking dinner a little bit, and I’m looking for her, but I don’t see her nowhere,” Herring said in the 911 call.
Herring said that she and her husband recently purchased the home where their daughter disappeared from.
Harris is then described as wearing pink Minnie Mouse pajamas and pink beaded braids in her hair.
“Sadly, the night of the 911 call on June 30th, when that call was made, it was already too late to save Javeayah.
“At this time, our investigation can support that she had been deceased for about a month,” Sawyer said.
The FBI in Columbia said it is “saddened by this tragic news and will continue to provide assistance as needed as the investigation progresses.”
A judge denied the parent’s bond request on Sunday and their charges could carry up to 20 years in prison.
The parents could also face additional charges as police continue their investigation.
