Coleen Rooney’s Ibiza Escape With Wayne Hides a Much Bigger Challenge as World Cup Chaos Looms

Coleen Rooney and Wayne Rooney appeared completely carefree as they soaked up the Ibiza sunshine — but behind the cocktails, beach days and romantic downtime, the couple already know their quiet escape is about to end.

With the 2026 World Cup looming, the Rooneys are preparing for a hectic period that will test their carefully balanced family life once again.

The couple deliberately made the most of their child-free break, enjoying time with friends and each other at one of their favourite destinations before Wayne’s schedule becomes “full throttle” with his broadcasting commitments.

A source said the pair had “made a pact to enjoy every second” because they knew life would soon become far more demanding.

Wayne, 40, is joining the BBC’s World Cup punditry team in Salford, while also juggling his own podcast and regular Match of the Day appearances. Coleen, meanwhile, has her own growing list of work commitments — alongside her role as the mother of their four sons.

The source explained: “It will be full throttle for Wayne on the presenting front – and Coleen has her various work commitments, and of course, holding the fort with their sons.”

But the couple apparently have little doubt they can handle the pressure.

“The juggle can sometimes be tough, but they’ve done it many times before and they’ll just get on with it and do it again.”

For Coleen, the rare child-free trip has been particularly precious. She is known for being deeply hands-on with sons Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass, and the Rooneys do not rely on a full-time nanny, instead turning to their wider family for support.

The couple’s Ibiza break also comes at an interesting moment following the latest chapter in the long-running Wagatha Christie saga.

While Rebekah Vardy has been promoting her new ITV reality show with husband Jamie, Coleen has seemingly refused to let the attention disturb her holiday mood.

The source claimed Coleen watched only the opening minutes of Vardy’s programme before switching over, describing it as “a complete yawn fest.”

Instead, Coleen appeared focused on her own life — looking relaxed, confident and enjoying time with Wayne.

The source added that the couple have become closer in recent years, saying Coleen had seen how strongly Wayne supported her through the Wagatha Christie court battle, her I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! experience and her latest business ventures.

“She’s fallen back in love with Wayne,” the source claimed.

That renewed closeness could prove important as their already busy lives become even more complicated.

Coleen has launched a fashion line with Primark and is reportedly continuing to attract major commercial interest after her £1.5million I’m A Celebrity payday. She has also turned down Celebrity Traitors, admitting she was unsure whether she could be “that fake.”

Then there is the couple’s highly anticipated Disney+ series, The Rooneys, which will thrust their family life back into the spotlight.

After 24 years together, four children and countless headlines, Coleen and Wayne remain determined to present a united front.

As Coleen herself recently put it: “You have your ups and downs, you have things that happen in life.”

“But I think being together from a young age, we know each other inside and out. We’re a team.”

For now, Ibiza has given them a brief chance to forget the noise.
