Riley Green brought a real-life romance into the Battle Rounds on The Voice when contestants Caroline Alexis and Everett Bounds performed a classic country duet. The two singers had started dating after meeting backstage during the Blind Auditions, making their performance of Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn’s Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man even more personal. Their chemistry caught the coaches’ attention, but Green ultimately chose Bounds as the winner, leaving fans wondering what would happen to the couple after the competition.

Caroline Alexis and Everett Bounds’ Romance Began Behind the Scenes
Green paired Alexis and Bounds for his first Battle Rounds, unaware at first just how close the two contestants had become. The pair met backstage during the Blind Auditions, and Bounds immediately felt drawn to Alexis.
“When I first saw Caroline, I thought, ‘Holy moly!’ because she’s just so beautiful,” Bounds recalled. “Caroline’s definitely the kind of girl I’d love to have as my girlfriend.”

Bounds later sent Alexis flowers and a handwritten note asking her to dinner. Since then, the two have gone on several dates and started getting to know each other better.
Alexis said she wanted to take their relationship slowly but appreciated Bounds’ supportive personality.
“I just want to take things slow, keep getting to know each other, but he definitely has a lot of qualities that I respect as a person,” she explained. “He is very uplifting and supportive. That’s something that’s good to have as a person and as a Battle partner too.”
Their growing connection made Green’s song choice particularly fitting. He asked the pair to sing Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man, the beloved country duet originally recorded by Twitty and Lynn.
Riley Green Encourages the Couple to Flirt on Stage
During rehearsals, Green and his Battle advisor, Carly Pearce, noticed different strengths in the two singers. Green praised Bounds’ ability to perform naturally, while Pearce complimented Alexis’ country drawl and the richness of her voice.
Green believed the Battle would come down to which contestant could best capture the playful characters in the song and make the story believable for the audience. He even encouraged the pair to flirt during their performance.

For Bounds, that instruction was easy to follow.
“Singing this song to Caroline is going to be very easy for me,” he said.
However, the romantic connection also made the upcoming Battle more emotional. Since only one contestant could advance unless another coach used a Steal, the pair knew they might soon be separated on the show.
“It’s an interesting situation not a lot of people find themselves in. We’ll see what happens between us afterwards,” Alexis said. She also revealed that Bounds often teased her, telling her, “You better still answer my phone calls, Bama.”
Alexis hoped one of them might be saved by another coach, allowing them to continue competing on the show.

Riley Green Chooses Everett Bounds After Their Country Duet
The pair delivered an upbeat performance of Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man, bringing playful chemistry and traditional country energy to the stage. Kelly Clarkson compared their performance to a duet by Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner.
Green was equally pleased with the result, telling the contestants that their performance had turned the room into a honky-tonk and made him feel at home. He praised Alexis’ attitude and Bounds’ natural style before making his decision.
Ultimately, Green selected Bounds as the winner, allowing him to advance to Cut Week while Alexis left Team Riley.
“He’s so natural in that fun, uptempo, traditional country song,” Green explained. “I think that’s something we really need on my team.”
Although Bounds earned the victory, the decision left the couple facing an uncertain next chapter on the show. Their relationship status following Alexis’ departure has not been confirmed, but their Battle gave viewers a glimpse of the connection that began behind the scenes.
With Bounds moving forward in the competition, fans will have to wait and see how his journey on The Voice develops and whether his romance with Alexis continues beyond the stage.
