Sydnie Christmas left the audience spellbound at this month’s Variety Club Showbusiness Awards, delivering a performance that guests described as “life-changing” and prompting calls to hear more of her angelic voice.
The acclaimed singer and actress, who became the first female winner of Britain’s Got Talent, was honoured with the Outstanding New ITV Talent award, recognising her as one of the brightest rising stars in entertainment.

The awards ceremony, held at The Londoner Hotel, celebrated the biggest names in showbusiness across television, film, music, theatre, and sport, while also supporting Variety, the Children’s Charity, and commemorating 70 years of ITV, the UK’s largest commercial broadcaster. Music industry icon Olly Murs also received accolades for Outstanding Contribution to Music, highlighting both his chart-topping career and charitable work.
Christmas’ live performance was the highlight of the evening, with her powerful rendition of signature songs leaving guests “begging for more.” Social media reactions captured the widespread awe, with fans posting messages such as, “Her voice is like what listening to angels would sound like!” and “I wasn’t ready for this kind of emotion at 9 o’clock in the morning… this is just SUBLIME.” One fan added, “I’m 75 and have NEVER in my life experienced anyone like her. Her sheer enjoyment while singing gave me new hope in the arts.”

The singer’s career trajectory has been nothing short of meteoric. Her debut album, My Way, soared to No.1 on the iTunes chart, and she has since headlined a sold-out national tour, culminating in Sydnie: Live in London at the Adelphi Theatre, which was filmed for PBS in America. She has performed at the Royal Variety Performance, two sold-out shows at Sony Hall in New York, and at David Foster’s 75th birthday concert at the Hollywood Bowl alongside Andrea Bocelli, Jennifer Hudson, and Josh Groban. Currently, Christmas is in the studio recording her debut originals album, set for release in spring 2026.

Professor Jonathan Shalit OBE, Chair of Variety, praised Christmas’ recognition, stating, “For 75 years, the Variety Club Showbusiness Awards have embodied the very best of British entertainment. Since The Beatles were honoured in 1964, Variety has continued to celebrate the greatest names in music entertainment.”
