The player missed out on the huge cash prize for the 1% question. A 1% Club finalist got a difficult £98K question wrong in tonight’s episode on ITV1 – but did you know it? Contestant Liz was the only player to make it to the 1% question, with host Lee Mack asking her if she wanted to play or not.
She proceeded to ask the other 99 players if she should gamble, with Lee calling it a show first and adding: “That’s the first time anyone’s done that.”
He then asked them by getting them to cheer if she should play and then clap if she shouldn’t.
She decided to take home the £10,000 rather than play for the difficult question. This came after she told Lee that she had a dream the night before that she wanted to take home the £10,000 but something went wrong and she had to play for the question and ended up losing.
As per the rules of the game, Liz was still presented with the question to see whether she would have gotten it right or not.
The question was: “If you can roll six different numbers using one standard dice, how many different totals can you make by rolling three identical standard dice?”
She said her answer would have been 180, but Lee revealed the answer was in fact, 16.
Liz breathed a sigh of relief, knowing she made the right decision by taking home the money rather than playing for the massive cash prize.
ITV viewers flocked to X to share their reactions as they watched the show.
One person wrote: “Well played Liz. Respect for making the correct decision. #The1PercentClub.”
Another viewer commented: “This woman who had that dream must be psychic #The1PercentClub.”
Somebody else said: “Omg Liz! Hope your dreams come true, well the opposite of the actual end #The1PercentClub.”
While a fourth added: “Her dream is coming true #The1PercentClub.”
The dramatic scenes from tonight’s episode come after ITV revealed it was expanding The 1% Club universe and would soon launch a children’s version of the game show.
A special spin-off recorded last year featured 100 kids in the place of adults as they attempt to prove their worth and make it all the way to the final 1% Club question.
ITV revealed a first-look at the brand new edition of the hit programme which is set to hit screens later this year.
In the short clip, Lee Mack can be seen being left puzzled as the children contestants teach him all about the viral ‘6, 7’ trend.
After asking aloud about the kids’ seat numbers on the show set, Lee was stunned as the children began to move their hands in an up and down motion whilst saying: “6, 7.”
The ‘6, 7’ phrase has been heavily associated with Gen Alpha after going viral earlier this year.
It ultimately became Dictionary.com’s word of the year with its clear lack of meaning or context largely playing into its popularity.
Their official definition describes the nonsense phrase as “a burst of energy that spreads and connects people long before anyone agrees on what it actually means”.
