Bill Anderson has been a familiar voice on the Grand Ole Opry stage for 65 years, and on July 18, 2026, he commemorated his historic anniversary as an Opry member with a very special celebration hosted at the historic venue.

The country music legend was inducted as a Grand Ole Opry member on July 15, 1961 and remains the longest-serving member in history. He is also the first artist in the Opry’s 100-year history to reach the remarkable milestone of 65 years, proving that his legacy is built on decades of unforgettable songs, performances and dedication to the home of country music.

Throughout the memorable evening, Anderson received heartfelt tributes from friends and fellow Opry members, including special video messages from Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, Carly Pearce, Steve Wariner and more.

Additionally, longtime friend Lorrie Morgan presented Anderson with a sentimental gift from the Opry: a European cut diamond and blue sapphire ring. The blue sapphire was specifically chosen in honor of the 65th milestone, as it is recognized as the anniversary stone for 65 years.

Once the show concluded, the “Still” singer returned to backstage in the famed Studio A, where he was greeted by a stunning “65” cake while surrounded by family, friends and fellow Opry members.

“The Opry is the home of country music, and thankfully for 65 years now the show has been home to Whisperin’ Bill Anderson,” said Opry Executive Producer Dan Rogers. “We’re so thankful that through all the stages of his career—all the hits, all the songwriting successes, all the TV appearances, all the tour dates, and more, Bill has always come home to this Opry he loves. We’re so honored, we’re so proud, and we’re looking forward to the next 65.”

Following the “wild weekend” of events, Anderson took to social media to reflect on all the support he felt not only on this recent night, but throughout his entire career. He shared immense gratitude towards his friends who left heartfelt messages during his celebration and the fans who have been coming to hear him perform for the past 65 years.

“All the fans that have come in here from all around the country…country music fans are the most wonderful, loyal people in the world and they’ve sure supported me and been awful good to me for 65 years…I’m truly thankful for everything that’s happened and for all of you,” he shared proudly.

Bill Anderson’s night at the Nashville venue took place amid the Opry’s Summer of the Century series, which officially kicked things off with its first star-studded celebration show in early June.
