Savannah Guthrie is set to return to the Today Show on April 6, nine weeks after her mother Nancy disappeared in the middle of the night from her home in Tucson on February 1
Savannh Guthrie has put a few conditions in place for her highly-anticipated return to the Today Show on Monday, April 6.
It’s been almost two months since the 54-year-old host joined her co-stars for the morning program. She took an unexpected hiatus in efforts to aid the FBI and local authorities in Tucson, Arizona find her 84-year-old mother Nancy, who disappeared from her residence on February 1.
Now that a bombshell update on the neighborhood has come to light, Savannah is ready to take her rightful place on air again and the crew is already preparing for her return.

An insider told The U.S. Sun, “The show has been on heightened security for a month.”
The “very, very tight” security will continue to be in place on the day of her debut.
Along with ensuring Savannah and the rest of the cast’s safety, production was also hoping to commemorate her return in a grandiose way.
“Production had planned to make a big deal about her comeback, including lots of yellow balloons and flowers, and even a religious choir to greet her on her first day,” the source shared.
However, despite their plans, Savannah reportedly “said no to all of it” and “immediately shut it down.”
The host wants her return to feel “normal.” She plans to take her place next to Craig Melvin just like any other morning.
The show is set to begin as usual, with a brief welcome back from Craig before they go straight into regular programming.
“It’s not going to be a long segment,” the insider added. “She wants to get right to the news.”
While discussing Savannah’s return during the show, Craig said he is excited to welcome her back to “where she belongs.”
His sentiments come after another insider revealed he was disappointed about how she returned.
While speaking to the Daily Mail, an insider claimed, “Craig was absolutely devastated he didn’t get that interview,” referencing the one between Savannah and Hoda Kotb which aired on March 26 and 27.
“He thought it was his moment with Savannah — and it never even came his way,” the source added. “He wasn’t just passed over — he wasn’t even asked. That’s what really stings.”
Craig allegedly saw it as a “major setback.”
After the claims came out, a Today spokesperson denied the allegations saying, “Craig was looped in and fully supportive of Savannah’s interview with Hoda.”
Craig has been a part of the Today family since August 2018 while Savannah joined in June 2011.
In January 2025, Craig replaced Hoda Kotb, joining Savannah as the lead co-anchors.
Savannah’s return comes as the mysterious disappearance of an Air Force general has drawn several chilling similarities to the Nancy case.
