In the AGT show aired on August 14th, the group Human Fountains, consisting of five members, performed a synchronized water-spitting act on stage to a slow, emotional melody.
In addition, they created a sausage sandwich using ingredients held in their mouths. A representative from the group explained that the idea for this act originated when they were still in high school.
“We tried it while driving and turned it into an entertainment performance,” one member revealed. However, the performance sparked controversy on the show’s fan page. Those who opposed it described them as “five ridiculous men amplifying a disgusting spitting act.”
Judge Simon Cowell pressed the button to stop the performance. According to him, it was the “stupidest thing” the judges had ever seen on the show. “How can I comment on what I just saw?”
Cowell said. However, the other judges seemed quite enthusiastic. “Although it’s disgusting, I really enjoyed it,” supermodel Heidi Klum commented. In an interview with the press, member Sam Kaufman shared his thoughts on the controversial performance: “Some people liked it, but there were also many who opposed it. We’re happy with any reaction, as everyone has different views on the types of comedic acts they enjoy.”
