Ana Navarro Discovers Surprising Family Connection to Amy Schumer as The View Hosts Share Unexpected Reunion
The View delivered an unexpected family reunion when co-host Ana Navarro revealed that she and comedian Amy Schumer are actually related.
During Schumer’s appearance on the ABC daytime programme, Navarro brought up a surprising discovery made years earlier on the ancestry series Finding Your Roots.
The revelation prompted an enthusiastic reaction from Schumer, who immediately embraced her newly discovered relative.
Their exchange quickly turned into a playful conversation about family history, politics and the possibility of spending more time together.

Navarro, 53, explained that her connection to Schumer, 43, had first been uncovered through genealogical research conducted by historian Henry Louis Gates Jr.
“The host of Finding Your Roots on PBS, was here last week,” Navarro told Schumer during the February 3 broadcast.
“He traced your ancestry some seasons ago. It turns out, you and I have something in common.”
Schumer immediately responded with excitement.
“Cousin! Cousin!” she exclaimed before the pair shared a hug.
Navarro then joked about the unlikely geographical connection between their families.
“Did you know there were wandering Schumers in Nicaragua? How did this happen?”
Schumer admitted she had been completely unaware of their shared ancestry.
“I had no idea but I’m so honored. We have to start hanging out more.”
Navarro jokingly warned that spending time together might damage Schumer’s reputation, but the comedian insisted they could face that possibility together.
The television personality also made a political joke about immigration enforcement, suggesting that being seen alongside her blonde relative might offer some protection.
Navarro’s Family Discovery Also Connects Her to Chuck Schumer

The unexpected connection was originally revealed during an October 2017 episode of Finding Your Roots.
At the time, Navarro learned that genealogical research had identified an unbroken DNA connection linking her to Amy Schumer.
The discovery also connected her to Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer, who is related to the comedian.
“I was surprised to know I have an unbroken DNA thread with Amy Schumer, which also means [Senator] Chuck Schumer,” Navarro said.
She joked that the revelation could complicate both her reputation and the senator’s.
Although the programme established a family connection, the precise degree of relationship between Navarro and Amy Schumer was not specified in the account.

Navarro’s appearance on the ancestry programme also revealed a much more serious chapter of her family history.
She discovered that one of her ancestors had been enslaved, a revelation that changed how she understood the history of slavery and civil rights.
Speaking afterward, Navarro explained that those subjects had always affected her emotionally, but learning about her own ancestry made them deeply personal.
“Now they’re not just abstract history. Now it’s also my own history,” she said.
The discovery also reinforced her belief that outward appearances and political identities rarely tell someone’s complete story.
“How we look on the outside may not be the entire story,” she explained, encouraging people not to become overly focused on labels.
An Unexpected Reunion Years in the Making
Although Navarro had known about the genealogical connection for years, her conversation with Schumer offered an opportunity to acknowledge it together on television.
Their warm embrace and joking exchange provided a lighter moment on The View, while also highlighting the surprising connections that ancestry research can uncover.
For Schumer, what began as a routine television appearance became an unexpected reunion with a relative she had never realised was part of her extended family.
