Had Sebastian Maniscalco been in New York last week, there was a chance the comedian would have appeared on Saturday Night Live.

In a clip of an upcoming episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Maniscalco got to talking about the now-viral SNL skit where cast member Marcello Hernandez perfectly parodied him, and how there was a chance he’d be involved.

“He did a great job, I was very flattered that they did that,” Maniscalco told Barrymore. “He actually called me on Thursday and said do you want to come in and do a cameo at the end of it?’ I couldn’t do it because I was performing in Palm Springs, but I thought this kid did a fantastic job.”

His only note?

“I didn’t know I was that gray,” he said, referring to Hernandez’s light wig.

The skit itself also starred the show’s host, Glen Powell, and focused on his bachelor party with Hernandez’s version of Maniscalco being an unexpected friend who ultimately takes up all the attention. Hernandez, 21, captured the comedian’s speaking voice and exaggerated mannerisms to a tee.

“Nailed it,” Maniscalco commented on an Instagram reel of the sketch on Sunday.

Maniscalco also talked about it on Live With Kelly and Mark on Friday, and shared that Hernandez actually reached out to him on Instagram when he was 16, sharing his aspirations of being a comedian.

And while he wasn’t directly involved with the skit, he took the opportunity while on the “Never Been Kissed” star’s talk show to pass his name along to host.

“I have never hosted the show,” he said. “Maybe you could help me out, apparently you’ve done it…six times? You’re takin’ all the spots!”

“You would be so amazing with that show,” Barrymore said.

Maniscalco’s appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show will air in full on Dec. 2 on CBS.

He has a Hulu stand-up special entitled “It Ain’t Right,” out Friday and is currently touring with stops including several nights at the Wynn Las Vegas in February of next year.
