Lainey Wilson is showing fans another side of her acting career as she prepares to make her comedy debut in the second season of Netflix’s Leanne.
The country star was confirmed earlier this summer as one of the new additions to the sitcom, and a newly released preview has now offered the first proper look at her character.
Created by comedian Leanne Morgan alongside Susan McMartin and Chuck Lorre, Leanne premiered on Netflix in July 2025 and quickly found an audience, reaching the streamer’s global Top 10 for English-language series.
The Emmy-nominated comedy follows Morgan’s character after her life is unexpectedly upended when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman. Following the success of its first season, Netflix renewed the series for a second outing.

For fans familiar with the singer primarily through hits such as “4X4XU,” the role marks another step in an acting career that has steadily expanded over the past few years.

A new clip released by Netflix shows Jessie arriving to visit Leanne following a breakup with her boyfriend, Mike.
Heartbroken by the split, Jessie turns to her cousin for support and is hoping Leanne can offer the kind of motherly guidance she needs.
The appearance also represents something new for Wilson. She made her acting debut in Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone, where she portrayed musician Abby, before securing a role in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Reminders of Him.
Leanne, however, marks her first move into sitcom comedy.
It remains unclear how substantial Jessie’s storyline will be or whether Wilson will appear beyond the episode currently confirmed.
