It’s all change over at The Voice, as NBC has revealed that season 31 will be a celebrity version, with three famous coaches – Joe Jonas, Queen Latifah, and Riley Green – joining the show, and long-time host Carson Daly leaving.

It marks the first time that long-time host Carson Daly will not be hosting the series, or a spin-off; Carson has hosted NBC’s The Voice since it started in 2011 but is transitioning to the role of executive producer for the upcoming 31st season, titled The Voice: Celebrity.

Emmy award-winning Keke Palmer will step in as host.

The news was confirmed on August 4 by NBC. In a social media post, they asked viewers to “join Coaches Joe Jonas, Queen Latifah and Riley Green, alongside new host Keke Palmer, for a special star-studded season of The Voice.”

The new show is now in production, and rather than unknown talent, it will follow actors, musicians, influencers, athletes, comedians, and reality television stars competing for the coaches to push their buttons and turn their chairs.

Carson’s departure may not be a full-time decision, though, as Keke, who also hosts the NBC game show Password, is only contracted for the celebrity edition, according to reports.

The Voice films in Los Angeles for all pre-taped episodes as well as the live shows, but Carson is based in New York, where he is a co-anchor on The Today Show and where his family, including wife Siri Pinter and their four children  – Jackson, 16, Etta, 12, London, 10, and Goldie, five.

Siri, a food blogger and author, met Carson in 2005 when she was a writer’s assistant on the set of Last Call with Carson Daly. They tied the knot on December 23, 2015, with their three eldest all in on the secret ceremony.

“It was great that the kids were a little bit older,” Carson shared at the time. “They actually knew what was going on. It was a really, really special night.”

The new format for The Voice will also include The Voice Boot Camp, a new segment that promises a behind-the-scenes look as celebrities prepare for their Blind Auditions. There will also be cameras inside the VIP room, watching the auditioning talent watch their fellow celebrities take to the stage.

The celebrity version will be the 31st season of the long-running show; Queen Latifah and Riley will both also be coaches on the upcoming season 30, which premieres this fall, alongside returning coaches Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine.

The Voice: Celebrity will air in 2027.

Joe will make his debut on the US version of show with season 31, and is following in the footsteps of his younger brother Nick, who served as a full-time Coach on Seasons 18 and 20.
