Princess Charlotte surprised everyone by riding the subway with her mother.
Princess Kate and her 11-year-old daughter surprised everyone by traveling to central London by train on the Elizabeth Line instead of using the royal motorcade.
Train passengers were surprised to spot the Princess of Wales and Princess Charlotte on a London Transport Underground train last weekend. A source said Princess Charlotte looked very excited, constantly observing the interior of the train. Accompanying the mother and daughter was a team of bodyguards, but they maintained a respectful distance, trying to create the most natural atmosphere possible so that the mother and daughter could enjoy the journey like ordinary passengers.

Appearing on the trip, Kate wore an elegant burgundy outfit paired with matching high heels. “The mother and daughter chatted happily with the passengers sitting opposite them. Princess Kate occasionally used her mobile phone and held Charlotte’s hand tightly as they disembarked at Tottenham Court Road station. Although it was only a brief interaction, both looked very relaxed and smiled constantly,” a witness revealed.
Although she is now 11 years old, Charlotte almost exclusively travels by private car or helicopter. Therefore, riding the subway is a rare and exciting experience for the only daughter of the heir to the British throne.
In contrast, Princess Kate was already very familiar with public transport even before joining the royal family. At an event in 2013 celebrating the 150th anniversary of the London Underground, while pregnant with Prince George, she admitted that she “really missed” traveling by subway.

The Princess of Wales’ actions reminded the public of the late Princess Diana ‘s parenting style. Prince William ‘s mother always strived to give her children the most idyllic childhood possible, taking the two princes on subway rides, double-decker buses, queuing for thrill rides, and eating at casual restaurants.
Kate and Charlotte’s recent trip on public transport continues to receive much affection from the public because of the down-to-earth and simple nature of the royal family.
