The wider program included everything from “Danny Boy” and “Lagan Love” to “Whiskey in the Jar,” “Hallelujah” and “Ireland’s Call.” It also gave individual performers opportunities to step outside the group’s traditional sound.

What makes this rendition appealing is its simplicity. There is no need for a huge dramatic arrangement or an emotional vocal climax. The charm comes from the interaction between Harkin and Furlong and the decision to let the playful spirit of the song take center stage.
