Liverpool’s Yan Diomande transfer hopes hit again as Real Madrid move for RB Leipzig star

Real Madrid have come to the party and are looking to sign RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande – with the Spanish giants ready to outbid PSG and Liverpool.
The Ivory Coast winger has been expected to move on all summer, but so far remains on the books of the German side. Now he’s back from the World Cup negotiations are set to accelerate and Los Blancos are prepared to stump up more cash than the Parisians.
Diomande has been on Liverpool’s radar as they seek out a replacement for Mohamed Salah, but the Leipzig star had made it clear his preference was a move to Paris, where he has agreed a contract according to Sky Germany.
So far the European champions have yet to offer the kind of sum that will convince Leipzig to cash in, but Real are prepared to join the party and the Athletic reports they’re ready to outgun both of their rivals financially as they seek a winger who could replace Brahim Diaz.
Liverpool have made an approach for Diomande this summer, but the Bundesliga side are holding out for a mammoth €130million (£111m) before the green light the player’s sale. The Reds have also been eyeing PSG’s Bradley Barcola, who could’ve moved on had the French side signed Diomande, which is now in doubt.
Diomande only joined Leipzig a year ago from Spanish side Leganes, but he’s proved to be a sensation and the Germans want to achieve a huge profit or tie him down to a new deal. They remain hopeful he will remain at the club beyond the summer window.
“Our clear intention is that Yan Diomande will play for RB Leipzig next year,” the club’s managing director of sport Marcel Shafer said on the winger’s future.

Diomande featured in all four matches for the Ivory Coast during the World Cup, helping them reach the Round of 32. Last term he scored 12 goals and provided nine assists in 33 Bundesliga matches as Leipzig finished third and returned to the Champions League.
Madrid have been busy during the summer window after confirming the return of Jose Mourinho. Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konate have joined on free transfers whilst Denzel Dumfries and Marc Cucurella have also been signed.
If they do indeed choose to pay top dollar for Diomande then Leipzig will have achieve the greatest sale in their history with his move exceeding the fees paid for Benjamin Sekso by Manchester United in 2025 or Josko Gvardiol, who joined Manchester City in 2023.
