“HE S.T.A.B.B.E.D A TEEN TO D.E.A.T.H — SO HOW DID SOME PEOPLE TURN HIM INTO THE VICTIM?”

Karmelo Anthony sentenced to 35 years in fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf at Frisco track meet | TPR

A beautiful young life was snuffed out in the most senseless way possible — knifed in the heart in what should have been a completely safe place: a high school track meet.

And a seemingly once promising young man is going to prison for 35 years for fatally stabbing him.

It truly cannot get more depressing than the case of Austin Metcalf, killed by Karmelo Anthony in 2025.

But because Metcalf was white, and Anthony is black, this has been turned into a toxic stew of racial grievances, exacerbating an already heartbreaking story.

Throughout the trial, protesters have demonstrated outside the Collin County courthouse, ranting that a guilty verdict would be racism. On social media, some have ghoulishly celebrated Metcalf’s death, while race hustlers like Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett are trying to turn this avoidable tragedy into a racial reckoning for a broken nation.

“Black women live in fear and agony every single day. A fear and agony, I promise you the Metcalfs probably never spent a day living that way,” she so callously said in an episode of her podcast, “Clock It with Crockett.”

“We’re going to have to have some real conversations about race in his country.”

May I suggest the failed candidate for Senate change the name of her podcast to “Crockett of s—t.”

What we really need is a conversation about education. Some of these fools outside the courthouse and on social media could benefit from opening a book or reading an article about this specific trial. Crockett, however, is an attorney, and being willfully ignorant.

Perhaps she’s auditioning to be the next Al Sharpton, but Crocket lies like a rug.

“If a 300-pound man is beating me, like on top of me and beating me down, I’m not limited to fists,” she said, presumably saying she’d stab him too. Except Metcalf was 200 pounds and was never on top of Anthony beating him.

This disgusting discourse is simply not supported by the facts presented at trial.

Both the defense and the prosecution said there was no racial component. Some of the witnesses who testified for the prosecution were black. Contrary to many reports, the jury was not all white. It was also made up of Hispanics and Asians. Potential black jurors were tossed for their admitted bias.

This was an open and shut case, and in fact, I am shocked Anthony’s side actually went to trial and didn’t opt for a plea deal. Instead, they went for a Hail Mary and tried to ridiculously claim self- defense.

A school sanctioned track meet is the last place a teen should be carrying or wielding a knife. After being asked to leave a school tent, Anthony provoked Metcalf, “Touch me and see what happens.”

He should have simply walked away when asked.

He instead met a shove from Metcalf with a stab. It was dead on target, ripping a 2-inch hole into Metcalf’s heart. He bled out and died in his brother’s arms.

Extremely graphic photos of Metcalf’s gruesome injuries where shown at trial, sending his family fleeing the courtroom.

The jury deliberated for less than three hours. Anthony never testified, so we don’t know what he was thinking. We have yet to hear from the stabber, who burst into tears after the guilty verdict.

However, we know the position of the Anthony family. In the immediate aftermath of the murder, they hired a representative, whose first move was to establish a racial element.

Dominique Alexander, founder and president of the Next Generation Action Network, claimed the case was “yet another example of what it means to be Black in America, where even our self-defense is questioned, scrutinized and politicized.”

Inside the courtroom, his mother, Kayla Hayes, begged the jury to take it easy on her son.

“I know my son, and he’s very sorry for what he did. Please have mercy on my son.”

But outside the court, surrounded by supportive protesters, some of his family members joined the chorus. His grandmother Toni Hayes yelled “Racist! Bias!” out of a car window. Do consequences exist in that house?

During the victim impact statements Austin’s twin brother, Hunter, had one request of the kid, now technically a 19-year-old man, who took his best friend. He asked if Anthony could look him in the eye, reportedly saying “I would really respect that.”

Anthony chose instead to look at his shoes.

Maybe then it’s easier to believe the race hustlers, who are trying to hold him up as a symbol of injustice — a victim of systemic racism.

In reality, Anthony is a poster child for poor impulse control and disastrously bad decision making. He hasn’t taken accountability or apologized.

And now two families are ruined. But only one of them is a victim.
