The 59th annual CMA Awards aired on Wednesday, November 19, and it turned out to be an unforgettable night.
Country music’s biggest stars came together at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena for the event. The night was hosted by Lainey Wilson, who took on the challenge of hosting solo for the very first time.

In addition to watching fan-favorite artists take home awards, viewers also enjoyed a long lineup of performances.
On November 6, the Country Music Association revealed its first round of artists who would be taking the stage throughout the night. As time got closer to the big show, though, even more performers were added.
One of those last-minute additions was Brandi Carlile.
The country folk singer has had a packed year. She released her new album “Returning to Myself” and wrapped up her Lost Time Tour over the summer. Carlile also recently shared that she will be heading back on the road in February 2026 for what will be the biggest tour of her career.
Brandi Carlile’s Surprise Song
Although fans knew she would be performing live, Carlile was one of the three artists whose song choice the CMA kept quiet. Along with her, Kenny Chesney and Patty Loveless also had songs that were not announced ahead of the broadcast.
And now it makes sense why her performance was under wraps. Carlile was one of the artists chosen to take part in the multi-artist tribute to Vince Gill.
During the show, Gill received the CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award. He became only the tenth artist to earn the honor.
With Vince Gill watching from the audience, Carlile began singing Gill’s 1989 hit “When I Call Your Name.” But there was another surprise. The iconic Patty Loveless joined her to give a once in a life time duet.
By the time she was done, Gill had tears in his eyes.
