In the wake of multiple new shooting deaths by ICE agents in Maine and Texas, who were not wearing body cameras at the time of the incidents, Whoopi Goldberg had a furious message to send border czar Tom Homan.
On Wednesday’s (July 15) edition of The View, the cohosts reviewed footage of Homan being grilled by CNN’s Kaitlan Collins about why the agents had no cameras, to which he replied that it was the fault of Democrats and the partial government shutdown.
In response, Goldberg said, “At some point, you’re going to have to take responsibility for not being able to do your job. You can’t keep putting it on the Democrats. You’re doing a bad job, Tom. You should be doing a better job. You said you were going to do a better job. We’ve put so much money into ICE. I could’ve bought you a camera by this time.”
Sunny Hostin then offered a helpful statistic, noting that the Department of Homeland Security received $20 million for cameras.
“You got $20 million. What the hell?” Goldberg then exclaimed.

Sara Haines then jumped in to note that the government shutdown did not affect Homan’s department, and that fact enraged Goldberg even more.
“But they stand and lie like we’re stupid. We know better. We know that we funded you. We know that you got the money. Where are the cameras, man?!” Goldberg said.
Joy Behar then complimented Collins for being “brave” and saying, “She goes up against Trump, he calls her all kinds of names, she just comes right back.”
“That’s her job,” Goldberg agreed. “Her job is to get him to tell us what’s going on, and she knows there’s nothing he can say to her that’s going to throw her, make her start to cry…”
Haines then added to the discussion, saying, “Homan had also said they were going to increase the training again because that was criticism. With that, they cut it in half, and the agent involved in the Maine shooting was a new recruit being pulled out. And then you also have the lack of body cameras in Maine and Texas. Enough is enough. They don’t even have a good track record. Two out of these three people we’re talking about were not even the targets they were going after. So they’re not good at their jobs. They’re not getting violent criminals. They’re not following what they said they do. They have to dial it back.”
Alyssa Farah Griffin spoke next and pointed out, “And there’s been outrage from all corners of Capitol Hill because there’s now two people dead because of these stops, these shootings that take place at traffic stops. So DHS announced this pause on traffic interdictions, but then the president posted that they’re reversing that and they’re going to continue enforcement at traffic stops, which is just asking for another tragedy.”
Sunny Hostin then pointed to the Department of Justice’s own policy against shooting at moving vehicles to enforce a stop, saying, “It stinks from the very, very top.”
“This is on them,” Goldberg said. “You cannot put this in the hands of Democrats. This is on you. This is on you.”
