PRINCESS LILIBET’S FIRST DAY AT PRESCHOOL WAS SUPPOSED TO REMAIN A PRIVATE FAMILY MILESTONE—UNTIL AN UNEXPECTED REVELATION OFFERED A RARE GLIMPSE INTO THE YOUNG ROYAL’S LIFE IN CALIFORNIA. New details about the daughter of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have emerged almost by accident, revealing a touching piece of a childhood the Sussexes have largely kept away from public view. For royal watchers accustomed to seeing very little of Archie and Lilibet, the seemingly innocent disclosure has suddenly opened a fascinating window into just how different their upbringing is from that of their royal cousins in Britain.

Meghan Markle has revealed new details about her daughter Princess Lilibet’s first day at pre-school as she promotes her new film, Cookie Queens.

The Duchess of Sussex, who turned 45 this week, shared that she had an unexpected full-circle moment during drop-off at the gates on Lili’s first day of pre-Kindergarten.

Meghan, who was part of the Girl Scouts while growing up in LA, was delighted to realise one of the other mothers was in her childhood troop.

“Funny enough, on Lili’s first day of pre-K, one of the moms came up to me at drop-off, and I realized we were in our troop together!” Meghan told PEOPLE magazine. “It was so sweet and nostalgic.”

Children in the United States typically attend pre-kindergarten (pre-K) at four years old, serving as a transition year before kindergarten starts aged 5. However, this can vary depending on the programme or district.

Where do Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet go to school?

Meghan previously revealed that her children attend different schools during an appearance on The Jamie Kern Lima Show last year.

Though she didn’t elaborate, this is likely because of their different ages (Archie is seven and Lilibet is now five).

It’s not known where exactly the Sussexes’ children go to school, as they are keen to protect their privacy; however, Meghan has said that the school run takes her two and a half hours in the morning.

So, it’s likely Archie and Lilibet attend school relatively nearby to their home in Montecito.

“If I don’t have meetings in the morning, then I try to do school drop-off. They’re at two different schools, so that’s a big circuit,” Meghan explained. “So from 6.30 in the morning on drop-off mornings for me, I’m not home till 9. And then after that, I’ll just jump into meetings. And then on other days, then I’ll wake up and get them all set, and then our amazing nanny, who’s been with us for five years, she’ll take them to school.”

Montecito resident Richard Mineards previously told HELLO!’s A Right Royal Podcast: “We have very good schools, which are not like England public schools but they’re state schools. And we have a very good one called Cold Spring School which has got great ratings and that’s in their catchment area.”

Would Archie and Lilibet ever go to school in the UK?

In 2022, Meghan opened up to The Cut about their new life Stateside and reflected on how it would differ from living in the UK.

Interviewer Alison P Davis wrote: “She’d remarked upon how, if Archie were in school in the UK, she’d never be able to do school pickup and drop-off without it being a royal photo call with a press pen of 40 people snapping pictures.”

Meghan then added: “Sorry, I have a problem with that. That doesn’t make me obsessed with privacy. That makes me a strong and good parent protecting my child.”

Last year, it was reported that Prince Harry had put his son Prince Archie’s name down to attend Eton College in the future.

However, a friend of the Duke told HELLO! they would be “very surprised” if this was the case, as Harry and Meghan are unlikely to continue their schooling in the UK.
