Ohio singer Brendan Coulter is speaking out after his shocking elimination from Season 30 of The Voice, as many fans continue to question Riley Green’s decision to send him home. While viewers believe Coulter deserved to advance, the singer has shared an emotional update about his unexpected exit, revealing a surprising detail about his journey that began years before his televised audition.
In an Instagram post, Coulter revealed that his journey with The Voice actually started in the summer of 2023. He traveled to Los Angeles and made incredible friends during Season 25, but his experience did not go as planned. According to the singer, he never expected to be sent home without even getting an audition because all the teams had already filled up.

However, Coulter did not give up on his dream. A few years later, he finally stepped onto the stage and got the opportunity he had been waiting for.
“It was everything I had dreamed it would be,” he wrote, describing the experience as “exhilarating, nerve-racking, fun, and so surreal.”

Although he admitted that he left the competition sooner than he had hoped, Coulter expressed gratitude to NBC, Green, and Battle Advisor Carly Pearce for helping him grow as both a musician and a person. He also thanked his Battle partner, Keiyana Osmond, and wished her luck as she prepares for Cut Week.
The singer saved special thanks for his wife, Anna Hertel, his family, and the fans who supported him long before his time on the show. He ended his message by expressing his faith and teasing that more music is on the way.
Coulter’s emotional post came after his Battle Round performance with Osmond, when the two Team Riley contestants took on Maroon 5’s She Will Be Loved. The song was particularly meaningful to Coulter, who revealed during rehearsals that it was the first song he had ever sung.
Green praised Coulter’s falsetto during rehearsals, while Pearce complimented Osmond’s tone and distinctive style. After their performance, Adam Levine, who co-wrote the hit with Maroon 5, praised both singers for taking on such a challenging song.
Despite acknowledging Coulter’s impressive performance and calling both contestants two of the most talented artists on the show, Green ultimately chose Osmond, explaining that her unique style helped her stand out. No other coach stepped in to steal Coulter, bringing his journey to an unexpected end.
The decision quickly sparked backlash, with many viewers insisting that Coulter had delivered the stronger performance. “Brendan clearly won that battle! He was robbed!” one fan wrote. Another commented, “When Brendan sang, I thought, ‘This person could win the whole show’!!! And then whaaaat???? And then, no steal?? ”

The disappointment continued under Coulter’s Instagram post. One viewer declared, “You won that battle hands down for me!” while another wrote, “You were robbed. Definitely the better singer and performer.”
Coulter also received encouragement from Pearce, who commented, “Your voice is so special!!! Can’t wait to see where it takes you ” His wife also shared a heartfelt message, expressing how proud she was of him and reminding him that there was more ahead.
Despite the difficult exit, Coulter appears ready to move forward rather than dwell on the result. His story of returning to The Voice after missing his chance in 2023 has made his journey even more meaningful, while his promise of new music gives fans something to look forward to.
Although his time on the competition has ended, the strong response to his performances suggests that many viewers are not ready to say goodbye to his voice just yet.
