The latest word from Palace could reveal whether Zaha’s return is a genuine possibility—or a reunion that may never happen

Wilfried Zaha Returns to Crystal Palace Training But Selhurst Park Reunion Appears Unlikely

Wilfried Zaha has returned to training with Crystal Palace as the club legend searches for the next destination of his career - but the Eagles currently have no plans to offer him a sensational Selhurst Park comeback

Wilfried Zaha is back training at Crystal Palace, but despite his deep connection with the club, a sensational return to Selhurst Park does not appear to be on the Eagles’ plans.

The 33-year-old is currently a free agent and has been using Palace’s Beckenham training base to maintain his fitness as he searches for his next club.

Zaha remains based locally and was given permission by his former club to train at the facility after ending his spell with Turkish side Galatasaray. He is now looking to secure a new move before the new season begins.

His return to familiar surroundings has inevitably prompted speculation about whether Palace could bring back one of the most recognisable players in their recent history.

According to The Sun, however, the club currently has no intention of re-signing the Ivory Coast international.

Wilfried Zaha struggled for consistency during his time at Galatasaray

Zaha’s search for his next club

Zaha became available after his Galatasaray contract expired, having spent the opening months of 2026 in Major League Soccer.

He joined Charlotte FC on loan, where he worked under former Aston Villa manager Dean Smith. The move, however, did not develop into a permanent transfer, leaving Zaha looking for another opportunity.

His current situation marks another stage in a career that has remained closely linked to Crystal Palace.

Zaha came through the club’s academy and made his senior debut in 2010. Across two spells with the Eagles, he made 458 appearances in all competitions, scoring 90 goals and registering 54 assists.

From Palace academy to club legend

Wilfried Zaha became a club legend during his time at Crystal Palace

Zaha’s first spell at Palace ended when Manchester United signed him. His time at Old Trafford proved difficult, and he also spent a period on loan at Cardiff City.

He eventually returned to Selhurst Park, where he established himself as one of Palace’s most influential Premier League players.

The Ivory Coast international ultimately left the club on a free transfer in the summer of 2023 after turning down the chance to agree a lucrative long-term extension.

Instead, Zaha chose a new challenge with Galatasaray.

His time in Turkey brought some success. He helped the Istanbul club win both the league title and a domestic cup, although he later spent time away from Galatasaray on loan.

A difficult temporary spell at Lyon followed before his move to Charlotte FC offered another chance to play more regularly.

Palace focused on rebuilding under Pierre Sage

Although Zaha is now training back in south London, Crystal Palace’s immediate transfer priorities appear to lie elsewhere.

New manager Pierre Sage is overseeing major changes to the squad ahead of the Premier League campaign, with the club continuing to strengthen its options.

Dwight McNeil has already joined, along with £21million winger Anan Khalaili. Defensive additions Takehiro Tomiyasu and Oscar Mingueza have also arrived.

Further recruitment is expected before the transfer window closes as Palace continue to build the squad Sage will have at his disposal.

Their preparations suffered a setback over the weekend, when they were beaten 3-0 by Freiburg in their final pre-season friendly.

Palace will now move into competitive action, beginning their new Premier League campaign with a trip to Everton on Saturday.

For Zaha, meanwhile, training once again at the club where he made his name provides a familiar setting as he searches for the next chapter of his career — but for now, a return to playing for the Eagles appears unlikely.
