MARK Consuelos has shared an update on how his wife, Kelly Ripa, is doing following her surgery.
The TV host didn’t appear on the last two broadcasts of Live with Kelly and Mark.
Mark, 55, explained on Monday’s show that Kelly, 55, was home recovering after undergoing gum graft surgery.
Kevin Jonas, who filled in as co-host for both episodes, asked Mark on Tuesday how Kelly was “feeling” since the procedure.
The All My Children alum said that his wife was “feeling better” and even “saying certain things.”
Kevin then asked if Kelly was “allowed to speak,” after the extensive surgery, to which Mark admitted, “I don’t think so.”
“But she’s doing it without moving her bottom lip,” the actor shared while imitating her apparent stiff facial expressions.
“And she got a lot of love, messages, people were checking in, ’cause we announced it on the show that she had surgery,” he added.
Gum graft surgery is a dental procedure for treating thinning gums or gum recession that involves replacing lost tissue around the teeth, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Recovery time can take up to two weeks or longer for some patients.
Mark revealed on Monday’s show that Kelly had to follow a list of recovery instructions, including not talking.
“That’s got to be the hardest thing she’s ever done,” Kevin joked about the veteran talk show host.
Mark said he’s been trying to get her to follow the rules and directions given to her by the dentist.
Other rules for her recovery include eating only soft foods, not drinking out of a straw, and resisting checking the surgical site.
Mark mentioned on Tuesday’s broadcast that friends had sent her ice cream, which he also indulged in himself.
“We had ice cream delivered last night from our good friends out in Palm Springs. Really good ice cream,” the Riverdale star said.
Mark previously revealed that Kelly was really hurting after the procedure, despite her usually tolerating pain well.
“It’s painful, but she famously doesn’t feel pain. When she goes into the dentist, she doesn’t use the Novocain. But this one hurts, so I know it’s bad,” he shared.
A lineup of rotating guest co-hosts will cover the rest of the week, with Mila Kunis taking over on Wednesday, Pamela Adlon on Thursday, and Scott Foley on Friday.
It’s unclear when Kelly is expected to return.
