A father and his two sons just impressed the “America’s Got Talent” judges with their performance of a big John Denver hit song.

Brothers Levi and Jacob Mills, alongside their father Rob, make up the country trio, The Sound, originally from Metro Detroit.

They performed “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver on NBC for their “AGT” audition airing on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

“We’re called The Sound and we’re originally from Romeo, Michigan,” the trio told the judges before their performance. “(We’ve been playing) since we were small.”

Following their performance, the trio were praised for their country harmonies.

“I’m not really that big of a fan of country music, but this made me so happy,” judge Mel B said. “The harmonies were just perfect.”

“At the end, you held so long, our crew came out and was about to take you off the stage. I loved it,” added Howie Mandel.

“That was amazing. I love country music. That song is one of my favorites. You guys being a family. I mean – the voices – everything was perfect. I think America is going to fall in love with you,” Sofía Vergara said.

“I think everyone is going to like you. How can you not,” Simon Cowell added. “That was a very safe, nice audition. That’s the riskiest thing you can do. I think you should sing a song that you make into a country song. Going forward, you have to go beyond safe.”

And they aren’t the only Michigan act to have a successful audition this season.

Steve Price of Canton, Michigan, and Mark Robbins of Minnesota built one of the most elaborate chain reaction machines they have ever constructed. Their audition aired about a month ago.

The judges are now narrowing down around 100 acts to the 44 which will move on to the Live Shows. We will find out next Tuesday night if the two Michigan acts will be among them.
