The duo’s goofy song improbably won over the surly Cowell. Everything to know about this weekend’s Minnesota Country Club music fest
Beloved children’s dance pop duo Koo Koo appeared on “America’s Got Talent” on Tuesday and caused a scene.
Neil Olstad and Bryan Atchison, who formed Koo Koo in 2008 and have since released albums and an online show called “Oh Yeah Heck Yeah,” wrote an original song for their audition called “Glitter,” a tribute to the show’s golden buzzer.
The dancey song is pretty typical of Koo Koo’s music — catchy, unabashed fun — and it took them just moments to win over the crowd, with the audience, judges, and Terry Crews all singing along to the chorus. (“Gliiiiiiitter… Gliiiiitter.”)

In the end, Koo Koo got three nos and didn’t advance to the next round of the performing competition, but they did get an emphatic endorsement from the show’s prickly figurehead, Simon Cowell.
“I’m going to be honest with you. I thought I was going to really not like that. I actually like it,” Cowell said after Koo Koo’s performance. “I can’t get that chorus out of my head.”
After it was clear that they wouldn’t advance, Cowell got up and led the crowd in a reprise of the chorus. He was even seen leaving the stage at the end of the show singing “Glitter” to himself.
