Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani Reportedly Came Close to The Voice Reunion Before Talks Unexpectedly Fell Apart

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s love story began on The Voice, making the show’s milestone 30th season an obvious opportunity for the married couple to return to the coaching chairs together.
According to a new report, NBC apparently had the same idea.
A source claimed the network made a serious effort to reunite Shelton and Stefani for Season 30, even making “generous offers” to the pair. The couple reportedly adjusted their summer touring schedules to accommodate filming, suggesting negotiations had progressed significantly.
But despite those preparations, the reunion never happened.
The reason remains unclear, although the source insisted scheduling wasn’t the problem — and claimed the decision ultimately came from Shelton and Stefani’s side rather than NBC.
NBC Reportedly Wanted Blake and Gwen Back

Shelton and Stefani first met while working together on The Voice in 2014, with their friendship eventually developing into a romance.
They later married, and their relationship became closely associated with the NBC competition where it began.
With Season 30 approaching and former coaches Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson already returning, bringing Shelton and Stefani back would have created another major reunion for the milestone season.
The couple last appeared as coaches together in 2023.
According to a source speaking to The Sun, NBC actively pursued their return and was willing to make it work.
“The network made generous offers,” the source claimed. “Blake and Gwen even made sure their Summer tours carved out enough time in late Summer so they were able to make the filming schedule work.”
That preparation seemingly put the couple in a position to participate.
Then something changed.
“Something on Blake and Gwen’s side derailed all of that and they decided not to return to the show,” the source alleged.
No specific explanation was provided for what reportedly caused the negotiations to collapse.
Scheduling Reportedly Wasn’t the Problem

One thing the source did rule out was a scheduling conflict.
Both singers had reportedly created enough space in their touring calendars to accommodate production, meaning their decision not to participate apparently came down to another factor.
“It was not NBC’s decision, they wanted Blake and Gwen back and would still welcome them with open arms,” the source claimed.
Neither the precise reason for their reported withdrawal nor further details about the negotiations were disclosed.
The report comes amid recent speculation surrounding Shelton and Stefani’s marriage, although there is nothing in the source’s comments establishing that those rumors had anything to do with the reported Voice negotiations.
There is also another possible piece of context: Shelton had previously made it clear that leaving The Voice was an important personal decision.
Blake Previously Stepped Away After Season 23

Shelton was one of the defining personalities of The Voice, appearing on the competition from its debut before finally leaving after Season 23.
At the time, Stefani spoke about why her husband was ready for a different pace.
“It’s a lot of brain power, it’s a lot of time away from the family, those kinds of things,” she told Extra.
She explained that Shelton had reached a stage where he wanted more freedom to spend time at his ranch and pursue other parts of his life.
“I think he just got to a point where he just wants time in his ranch, like time to just do the other things that he loves to do,” she said.
That made Shelton’s departure particularly significant after such a lengthy run on the programme.
A Season 30 appearance alongside Stefani therefore would have marked a notable return to the show that played such a major role in both his career and their relationship.
According to the latest report, however, that reunion ultimately wasn’t meant to be.
Season 30 Is Moving Forward With a Different Lineup
Although some longtime viewers may have hoped to see Shelton and Stefani reunited in the coaching chairs, The Voice has assembled another high-profile panel for its milestone season.
Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson are returning, while country singer Riley Green and Queen Latifah will join them.
The announcement has already generated enthusiastic reactions from viewers, particularly around Queen Latifah’s addition.
“Queen Latifah and Kelly together… Can’t wait!” one fan commented on the show’s Instagram announcement.
Another declared: “I will be joining Team Queen immediately!”
For now, exactly what prevented Shelton and Stefani’s reported reunion remains unanswered. The source maintains that NBC wanted them back and that scheduling had already been addressed, but whatever reportedly changed on the couple’s side was enough for them to ultimately decline the opportunity.
That leaves Season 30 moving ahead without the pair whose romance famously began on the show more than a decade ago.
The Voice returns for Season 30 in September.
