Actress Sarah Lancashire, best known for her role in Happy Valley, has been highly praised for her role as Miriam in Channel 4’s Kiri.

The miniseries follows the harrowing case of a little girl called Kiri, who goes missing after having an unsupervised, organised by Miriam, with her biological grandparents.

As a search party is put in place, Miriam, who is described as a ‘no-nonsense’ social worker, finds herself as the target of a media media witchhut.

Under fire from her colleagues, the press and police, Miriam’s life takes an unexpected turn after Kiri’s dissapearance.

People have highly praised the four-part series, which has been likened to Broadchurch, with many calling it a must-watch, reports Bristol Live.

One person said: “EXCELLENT. This work hits a lot of hot spots and, in a subtle and thoughtful manner, takes us over a lot of ground. All of it, I think, is worthwhile. Stunning, understated performances by both Finn Bennett and Sarah Lancashire. Wow.”

Another shared: “Superb. Bafta-nominated, excellent. Have a watch and judge for yourself.” While someone else commented: “Riveting right up to the end.”

A fourth added: “DISTURBING, HAUNTING, COULD SO EASILY HAPPEN.” As another simply shared: “Brilliant Performance.”

Sarah is also joined by a stellar cast, including Gangs of London star Lucian Msamati, Paapa Essiedu, Lia Williams, Wunmi Mosaku, Steven Mackintosh and Finn Bennett.

Speaking about filming in Britsol for the series in the past, Sarah commented: “We filmed all of the exteriors there. It’s Miriam’s patch. It’s fantastic, vibrant, really colourful, really edgy, completely non-conformist, which is very much who she is.

“They sort of complement one another, it was a really good place to film.”

A short preview for the show reads: ” Miriam arranges for Kiri to have an unsupervised visit with her biological grandparents.

“But when Kiri disappears during the visit, the fingers of suspicion and blame from the police, the press, and even her colleagues, point firmly at Miriam.
