Keith Urban is reportedly “devastated” after his ex-wife, Nicole Kidman, has started dating again after he called for their split. The Australian actress is said to have started a relationship with private equity businessman Michael Reinstein months after her divorce from Urban was finalised.
Nicole, 59, was spotted looking cosy with her rumoured new partner during a recent public outing, with images showing the pair holding hands and kissing. But while Nicole appears to have found love again, the new relationship has reopened old wounds for Keith, who, sources claim, wasn’t expecting her to move on so fast and had hoped a reconcilation could be on the cards.
The pair were married for almost two decades before they made the decision to split in September of 2025, with Nicole filing for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Their divorce was finalised on January 6 of this year.

Speaking to New Idea, a source said: “Up until now, he still had hopes there might be a chance at a reconciliation. He’s absolutely devastated and is going through that feeling of deep loss all over again.
“It has sent him into a tailspin, and all his friends are keeping a close eye on him. Everyone knows how upset he is, but they’re not going to let this get to him.” The source went on to add that, having seen Nicole moving on, he is now “freed up” to consider finding love himself.
“He’s crushed, and the last thing he feels like is getting close to someone new, but he knows his ship with Nic has sailed,” the source went on to add. In images obtained by the Daily Mail, Nicole was seen sitting poolside with Reintein while on the Italian Riviera.
The pair were seen having conversations with her new partner before he lifted Nicole’s hat. A source told the publication: “After everything she went through with Keith, she deserves to find happiness.
“She never thought her marriage wouldn’t work out, and she tried as best as she could to keep her family intact. Her daughters are her best friends, and she seems really content in her life. She’s so easy to get along with and kind. She keeps her personal life extremely private.”
Prior to their split in September last year, Nicole and Keith had been living separately. As part of their divorce settlement agreement, it was reported that Nicole had been named as the primary parent to their two daughters, Sunday Rose, 18, and Faith Margaret, 15. And the actress maintains a very close bond with her two daughters.
However, Keith was reportedly hurt when Sunday snubbed him during a glossy magazine interview. Praising Nicole for being one of the biggest creative inspirations in her life, Sunday credited the Australian actress for sparking her interest in modelling, as the A-lister used to take her daughter to photo shoots as a young child.
Speaking to Elle, she said: “My mum is someone who has always been so creative and my biggest inspiration in life. She is a key part of everything I do.”
However, Sunday did not mention her dad at all in the piece, something which left rocker, Keith, feeling “just numb”, according to sources.
An insider told New Idea: “Keith doesn’t know what to say, but he’s trying to put on a brave front. He knows he has to be patient; however, this latest snub – so publicly, there in black and white – has stumped him.”
