Prince William makes surprise trip abroad with Prince George
The two royals have been spotted in Europe.
Prince William and Prince George have been spotted this evening at Camp Nou, supporting Aston Villa. The Midlands team are taking on their Champions League encounter with Barcelona.
Prince William took his seat in the stadium’s VIP box along with his eldest son. The royals were surrounded by a crowd of over 80,000. Barcelona received formal confirmation of the royal pair’s attendance ahead of the fixture, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reported.
In a social media post, FC Barcelona’s account penned: “FC Barcelona is honoured to welcome His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and His Royal Highness Prince George to the Spotify Camp Nou. Thank you for joining us for a special evening of Champions League football featuring your beloved Aston Villa.”
William, who famously supports Aston Villa, has often travelled across Europe to watch his team when his busy schedule of royal engagements allows. The future king was also present at Villa Park last month.

This evening’s trip to Europe was not Prince George’s first European away day with his father. In 2025, Prince George accompanied William to Paris to watch Villa compete in the Champions League quarter-finals. William has spoken about how he came to support Aston Villa, reports Daily Mail.
In a 2015 BBC interview, he explained that his schoolmates largely backed Manchester United or Chelsea, prompting him to seek something different. “I wanted to have a team that was more middle of the table; that could give me the more emotional rollercoaster moments,” he said.
“Aston Villa’s always had a great history. I have got friends of mine who support Aston Villa and one of the first FA Cup games I went to was Bolton v Aston Villa back in 2000. Sadly, Villa went on to lose to Chelsea (in the final),” he added.
“It was fantastic, I sat with all the fans with my red beanie on, and I was with all the Brummie fans and had a great time. It was the atmosphere, the camaraderie and I really felt that there was something I could connect with.”
