Zara Tindall makes surprising confession about daughter Mia in new interview
Princess Anne’s daughter has revealed an insight into family life.
Zara Tindall has made a surprising confession about her daughter Mia, who is almost a teenager. Princess Anne’s daughter Zara is known for her love of horses, having competed for almost her entire adult life, including at the Olympics.
While it is believed Zara got her love of horses from her mum, Princess Anne, it also seems she is passing that love on to her own children. This is especially the case with her daughter Mia, who is 12.
Mia has already been seen at a horse-riding event, and is believed to have the same passion for horses as her mum and grandmother. However, being almost a teenager, it seems that Mia also has some attitude with Zara, as revealed by the royal mum the other day.
In a rare interview with the Talk Horse podcast, 45-year-old Zara gave an insight into Mia to hosts Pippa Funnel and Tristan Phipps. The podcast, filmed at Princess Anne’s Gatcombe Park estate, also heard Zara reveal that she has signed up for the eventing challenge at the London International Horse Show.
Talking about how she took Mia and two of Mia’s cousins horse-riding the other day, Zara revealed that her pre-teen had shown her a bit of attitude by rolling her eyes. The royal mum said: “I took Mia for a jump the other day. Mia and her two cousins.”
She continued: “And then I said, ‘To me’ or something, she just rolled her eyes and went ‘Urgh’, I was like, ‘I literally said the same thing to the other guys. They didn’t roll their eyes at me’.
“I think I was probably like that with my mother and father too, I’m sure they’ll tell you that.”
As well as being a doting mum to Mia, Zara and her husband Mike Tindall are also proud parents to Lena, eight, and Lucas, five. The family-of-five may be members of the Royal Family, but as they have no official titles, they live a relatively ordinary life.
This is thanks to Princess Anne, who decided not to give her children titles when they were born. Zara has previously revealed that she is grateful to her mum for doing this.

In a podcast with Rob Burrow before his tragic 2024 death, Zara said she was “very lucky” not to have a royal title. She said: “From my point of view, I was obviously very lucky that my mother didn’t give us any titles, so I really commend her on that. We were very lucky that we got to do it a bit our own way.”
This is not the only time she has spoken about it. Princess Anne’s daughter also told The Times in 2015: “I’m very lucky that both my parents decided not to use the title and we grew up and did all the things that gave us the opportunity to do.”
Mike and Zara’s eldest daughter, Mia, will turn 13 in January.
