Dolly Parton’s Estate Sues Nephew Bryan Seaver Following Alleged Threats and Intimidation

Less than a month after Dolly Parton’s death, a legal dispute involving her family and estate has emerged, with her former head of security, nephew Bryan Seaver, facing allegations of threats, intimidation and attempts to interfere with the singer’s business interests.

The lawsuit was filed by She’s Alive, LLC, an entity established by Parton to protect her estate following her death. The filing came after Seaver was removed from his position overseeing security for Parton’s properties.

Court documents obtained by PEOPLE allege that Seaver’s conduct escalated in the weeks surrounding Parton’s death, ultimately leading to his termination. The estate also sought a restraining order against him on September 22.

Why Was Bryan Seaver Removed?

Seaver had served as Parton’s head of security for more than two decades. According to the legal filings, however, tensions began to escalate several weeks before Parton’s death.

The estate alleges that Seaver became increasingly aggressive in his dealings with those involved in protecting and managing Parton’s legacy. The filing claims he threatened to damage the singer’s brand and sought financial compensation in connection with those threats.

Among the allegations is that Seaver threatened to “destroy the entire brand” and told Parton’s entertainment attorney, “I’m not an entertainment person. I’m a killer.”

The claims remain allegations contained in court documents and have not been established as facts in court.

The lawsuit further alleges that Seaver threatened reputational and financial harm against people selected to oversee Parton’s brand and business interests.

According to the filing, he also intended to launch a podcast targeting Parton’s business partnerships unless he was paid.

The estate says Seaver’s previous work as a military contractor and his references to access to weapons contributed to concerns about the nature of the alleged threats. TMZ reported that the lawsuit claims he invoked his experience and alleged access to weapons while attempting to pressure those managing Parton’s affairs.

Estate Seeks Court Protection

Alongside the lawsuit, She’s Alive, LLC requested a restraining order on September 22.

The estate argues that continued threats and intimidation could disrupt its operations and create concerns for employees, advisers and business partners involved in maintaining Parton’s legacy.

The legal action seeks to prevent Seaver from interfering with the estate’s business interests and from contacting or approaching individuals associated with those operations. TMZ reported that the requested restrictions include staying 1,000 feet away from the relevant offices.

The dispute follows an earlier termination letter that formally dismissed Seaver and his security companies from Parton’s properties. The letter instructed Seaver and anyone working under his control to leave the properties and not return.

Who Is Bryan Seaver?

Bryan Seaver is the son of Dolly Parton’s sister Cassie and had been responsible for the singer’s security for more than 20 years.

He took over the role after his father, Larry Seaver, previously served as Parton’s head of security.

Seaver is also the CEO of Squadron Augmented Protection Services, the security company connected to his work for Parton.

His connection to the singer became especially visible after Parton’s death. Seaver was the family member who publicly announced her passing in a video shared on August 25, 2026. Parton died at the age of 80.

His dismissal came less than a month later.

According to the termination documents, Seaver was ordered to leave Parton’s properties immediately, although the letter made clear that his status as a beneficiary of the estate was not affected by his removal from the security role.

A Dispute Emerging After Parton’s Death

The legal battle has added another complicated chapter to the period following Parton’s death.

The estate is now seeking to protect the business interests and legacy associated with the country music icon, while allegations in the lawsuit have brought new scrutiny to the circumstances surrounding Seaver’s dismissal.

At this stage, the accusations against Seaver are claims made by the estate in court filings. The lawsuit and restraining-order request will determine the next steps in the dispute.
