Three meetings. No agreement. Now one of Europe’s biggest clubs has reportedly walked away from Mohamed Salah—leaving the Liverpool legend’s future hanging in the balance. Despite serious negotiations and multiple face-to-face meetings, talks reportedly collapsed when the financial demands reached a deadlock. With Besiktas refusing to break the club’s wage structure, Salah’s search for a new home has taken an unexpected twist, raising fresh questions about where one of football’s biggest stars will play next. His next move suddenly looks far more uncertain than anyone expected.

MO SALAH has been handed a major blow after Besiktas claimed they have walked away from talks with the ex-Liverpool star.

The Egyptian is looking for his next club after leaving Anfield as a free agent at the end of the 2025/26 season.

Besiktas had emerged as a possible contender to sign the two-time Premier League winner despite links to Saudi Arabia.

But club chief Onder Ozen says the Turkish outfit have pulled out after a “deadlock” in negotiations, despite meeting Salah three times.

Ozen told the Turkish press, via the Daily Mail: “We contacted Salah, this also involved a financing model.

“Salah is a global star, a respected athlete. We met with Salah three times before the financial part of the negotiations was discussed.

“Up to this point, everything was smooth. When the financial side began, the initial smoothness slowed down from July 21 onwards.”

Ozen suggested Besiktas were unwilling to break their wage structure for Salah, who was earning around £400,000-a-week at Liverpool.

He reportedly pocketed an eye-watering £30.8million a year when performance-based bonuses were taken into account.

And Ozen said they simply couldn’t satisfy Salah’s massive demands while staying within their strict budget.

He added: “Requests began to arrive that would both disrupt the flow of information and create a deadlock in the financial process. I can assume that a respected athlete like Salah was unaware of this.

“The club has a policy, and it cannot deviate from that policy, our President has very clearly identified his position and has stayed there.

“I don’t have a chance to say yes or no, Besiktas’s offer, made under its own terms, is clear. If a response comes to this offer, it can be evaluated.

“But Besiktas will not make another offer. They said they are also in talks with another club, maybe they will get a result from there.

“The last offer we made to Salah is the final point that does not harm Besiktas’s club identity.”

Salah left Liverpool as one of the club’s greatest ever players after netting 257 goals in 442 appearances across a nine-year spell.

He won two Premier League titles, two domestic cups and the Champions League during his time at the club.

But his final season at the club ended on a sour note after giving a bombshell interview in December accusing the club of “throwing him under the bus”.
