Semi-Finals Performance on ‘American Idol’

During the semifinals on “American Idol” season 24, the Top 5 performed twice: a duet with a 2006 contestant from the show and a “DWTS” crossover performance.

For that “DWTS” crossover performance, Hannah told Randy Jackson she is in it to win it. She felt she was going to get ripped to shreds by him. She sang “Fever” by Peggy Lee. Randy did not like this idea at all. He thinks this song could trip her up, but she just needs to let her heart get into it. For the DWTS pros, it’s Rylee Arnold and Jan Ravnik performing. This is definitely a different style for Hannah, but she makes it work. Her voice sounds great on it, but she was out there having fun with it, too. Snapping and seemed more relaxed.

For the judges, Luke said he thought it was incredible. It was so uniquely different for her. Lionel said that was exactly what was needed. She surprised us. Paula said there is nobody who sounds like her in the competition. It’s beautiful to see how America has become invested in her. Carrie said she is proud of her. She is growing more and more in the competition.

Hannah’s Audition on ‘American Idol’

It all started here. Hannah said she grew up in a musical family. Her family quit their jobs in 2009, and they hit the road performing their banjos. They are a bluegrass band. She is now home with three little boys. Hannah is trying out for the show to give her boys the life she had growing up.

For her audition, she sang an original song called “String Cheese.” After getting emotional when explaining what the song means, Hannah sings. She definitely has an ease to her voice, but the song is nice. She has a strong country/bluegrass sound to it.

For the judges, Carrie said that’s the most relatable song she’s ever heard. Luke said great job with that bluegrass sound. Lionel said to use Dolly for her storytelling ability, but then she can tell that story and give us the range. Carrie said she might be her favorite person to walk through those doors. It’s three yes votes, so she was headed to Hollywood Week.
