Adam Levine Could Have Rescued Brendan Coulter — So Why Did He Stay Silent? His Surprising Reason For Not Using His Steal After The Controversial Maroon 5 Battle Has Added An Unexpected Twist To The Voice Backlash. The Battle Was Over. Riley Green Had Made His Choice. And Brendan Coulter Was Going Home — Despite The Wave Of Viewer Reactions Questioning The Result. But The Biggest Surprise Came From What Happened Next.

Adam Levine had a chance to save Brendan Coulter from elimination on The Voice, but the Maroon 5 frontman chose not to use his only Steal during a Battle Round that has left fans questioning Riley Green’s decision.

The 27-year-old Ohio singer faced Keiyana Osmond in a performance of Maroon 5’s She Will Be Loved, a song that holds special meaning for Levine. Although both contestants impressed the coaches, Green ultimately picked Osmond to advance, sending Coulter home and sparking an outpouring of support for the eliminated singer.

What surprised many viewers even more was that none of the other coaches stepped in to save Coulter, despite the strong reaction to his performance.

Before the Battle, Green paired the two singers with the help of advisor Carly Pearce. During rehearsals, Green praised Coulter’s falsetto and recognized his connection to the song, which was the first song he ever sang. Pearce, meanwhile, praised Osmond’s tone and unique style, while Green described the pair as two of the most talented contestants on the show.

Their performance earned praise from Levine, who was delighted to hear the contestants take on his band’s hit. Green jokingly challenged the Maroon 5 singer with the remark, “Take that, Adam!”

Levine responded enthusiastically, thanking the singers for performing a song that had made such a lasting impact on listeners. He also acknowledged the difficulty of the track, saying it took everything they had while praising both contestants for doing a great job.

However, Levine made it clear that he did not want to influence the outcome simply because the song came from his own catalog. He left the final decision to Green, joking that watching the country star struggle to choose would be more entertaining.

Green eventually selected Osmond, pointing to her interesting style as a key factor. He also praised Coulter’s performance and expressed pride in having both singers on his team. As Coulter walked off the stage, Green acknowledged that the Ohio singer had done a good job, making the elimination even harder for viewers who believed he deserved another chance.

The decision quickly drew criticism from fans, many of whom felt Coulter had delivered the stronger vocal performance. Some praised his control and falsetto, while others questioned why no rival coach used a Steal to keep him in the competition.

“I’m even shocked no one stole him,” one viewer commented.

What a ride. My NBC's The Voice journey is one that started in the summer of 2023. I went to LA, made incredible friends (shoutout to my season 25 homies), grew as

Another wrote, “Brendan lead and carried that whole performance. He had zero pitch issues and was just spot on with that falsetto. He absolutely won this.”

Others were equally disappointed, with one fan declaring, “He was so much better……..” Another pleaded, “Bring him back”

Some viewers also questioned whether the decision was based more on a contestant’s overall style than the performance itself. “Brendan cruised to a victory here. First big decision for Riley choosing intangibles over actual execution,” one commenter argued.

With the backlash growing, Levine’s explanation for how he planned to use his Steal has become another point of interest. The coach revealed that he had only one Steal available during the Battles and intended to save it for the moment that felt right to him.

“I have one steal in these battles. I think, use it when I feel it. Press it when I feel it, always,” Levine explained.

His comments offered insight into why he did not intervene in Coulter’s Battle. Rather than using the opportunity simply because a contestant delivered a strong performance, Levine appeared determined to trust his instincts about when to make his move. Still, for fans who believed Coulter was the clear winner, that explanation may not be enough to ease their disappointment.

The reaction also highlights the difficult position coaches face during the Battle Rounds, when even a standout singer can be eliminated after one performance. While Osmond earned Green’s vote with her distinctive approach, Coulter’s vocal delivery clearly left a lasting impression on many viewers.

For now, fans continue to rally behind the eliminated singer, with some predicting that his talent will take him far beyond the competition. One viewer even insisted that Coulter was ready for a bigger stage, while others urged the show to bring him back.

Although his journey on The Voice ended earlier than expected, Coulter’s performance of She Will Be Loved has given him a growing group of supporters. And with Levine holding onto his Steal for another moment, fans are left wondering whether the coach missed an opportunity to save one of the season’s most talked-about eliminated contestants.
