The 1% Club player beats two rivals to win £96,000 jackpot with tricky PIN puzzle

Three contestants reached the final question on The 1% Club, but only one managed to crack the puzzle and walk away with the £96,000 jackpot.

Dominic Jackson found the correct four-digit PIN in just 30 seconds, beating Jack Kettle and Dom Hall in the tense final round. The catch was that one of the contestants admitted he had misread the question.

The episode, broadcast on December 14, 2025, was part of The 1% Club Rollover, a spin-off of the Lee Mack-hosted quiz show. Contestants who make it through to the 1% question can return on the following day and continue playing.

On this occasion, Jack Kettle, Dominic Jackson and Dom Hall all survived to the final question, putting the £96,000 prize within reach.

The final challenge was based around a four-digit PIN.

Lee Mack introduced the puzzle by explaining that he kept forgetting his PIN number. The contestants were told that each digit in the four-digit number was higher than the digit before it.

They were then shown a diagram made up of four rows of capital letters arranged in seemingly random positions.

The challenge was to use the diagram to work out the four-digit PIN, with only 30 seconds available.

Once the time ran out, Lee asked each of the three finalists for their answer.

Jack Kettle gave 9841, but immediately admitted that he had misread the question.

Dominic Jackson had put 1489, while Dom Hall answered 1469.

Lee then revealed that Dominic had got it right.

The correct PIN was 1489, making Dominic Jackson the night’s sole winner and securing him the entire £96,000 jackpot.

The puzzle was particularly difficult because contestants had to interpret the letter diagram correctly while also following the clue that each digit had to be higher than the one before it.

The show describes the final challenge as a question that only 1% of the British public can answer correctly within 30 seconds.

Another contestant had already won £100,000

Dominic’s win came only days after another 1% Club Rollover contestant made history by taking home the show’s full £100,000 prize.

On Wednesday’s episode, university student Lucie Alcock reached the final question and successfully solved a puzzle that left the other finalists stumped.

Lucie was asked:

What letter of the alphabet replaces the question mark in this sentence: ANGLE RE GON ?

The answer was N.

The puzzle was based on a sequence involving the names of shapes. Each shape has a number of letters removed from the beginning of its name corresponding to the number of sides it has.

The sequence runs:

Triangle → Square → Pentagon → Hexagon

The missing letter for the final part of the sequence was therefore N.

After revealing the answer, Lee asked Lucie how long it had taken her to solve the puzzle.

The stunned contestant replied that she had worked it out in about half the available time, before reacting with: “Oh, my god.”

Lucie’s victory made her only the second person to win the full £100,000 on the show. The other was Clarke Carlisle, who won the top prize during a celebrity special.

For Dominic Jackson, meanwhile, the final puzzle had a very different outcome. With Jack Kettle and Dom Hall both giving incorrect answers, his 1489 solution was enough to leave him as the night’s only finalist to claim the £96,000 jackpot.
