RYAN Thomas was unimpressed after he and his kids were left stranded outside a prison following their electric car running out of battery.

The former Coronation Street star, 42, shares his two younger children with fiancée Lucy Mecklenburgh.

 

In a video posted to TikTok, Ryan along with son Roman, 6, and daughter Lila, 4, were sat on the ground in a woodland area.

Ryan said in the clip: “So me and the kids have ended up at a prison.

“A young offenders’ prison, in the middle of nowhere, off the M6 Toll, because we ran out of charge on the car.

“I missed the service station and I had 5% left.”

 

However, the star went on to explain he had encountered a further complication.

After being directed to the prison – which has a charging point – he wasn’t permitted to use it.

Ryan added: “It’s coming out of their money or something. I said, ‘I’ll pay for it’ anyway, long story short, it wasn’t happening.

“We’ve been knocking on people’s doors round this estate.”

Fortunately, he concluded by saying someone had let him use their charging point, but it would be a while before being done.

One person commented: “This is why I can’t go electric.”

Another added: “Why I won’t have an electric car.”

Ryan and former Towie star Lucy, 34, got engaged in 2019 having begun dating two years earlier.

They met while taking part in Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls, a year after Ryan left his role as Jason Grimshaw on Coronation Street.

He has an older daughter – actress Scarlett, 17, with former co-star Tina O’Brien.
