The 1% Club Contestant Walks Away With Incredible £97,000 Jackpot After Cracking Fiendishly Difficult Final Question – Could YOU Have Solved It?
One contestant was left speechless, another failed at the final hurdle for the second night running, and a staggering £97,000 was ultimately claimed by just one person. Thursday’s episode of The 1% Club delivered a nail-biting finish as Anna became the only finalist to crack the show’s notoriously difficult 1% question.
Hosted by Lee Mack, the hit ITV quiz puts contestants’ logic, observation and common sense to the test rather than relying on general knowledge.
This week’s special Rollover edition raised the stakes even further. Anyone reaching the final round could return the following evening for another chance to win, with the prize money continuing to build.
But Thursday’s instalment came down to three finalists – Anna, Sam and Stevie – and one question that would determine who walked away with the enormous jackpot.

Sam Takes £10,000, Leaving Two Contestants Fighting For The Jackpot
As the final round approached, Sam made the decision to take his guaranteed share of £10,000 rather than risk losing everything.
That left Anna and Stevie competing for the remaining prize pot: an astonishing £97,000.
Lee Mack then presented the pair with their final challenge:
“What common two-word phrase do you get if you remove three words from the following sequence?”
The screen displayed a seemingly random collection of letters:
T W H W E R L E L E D W O O N R E D S
With the clock ticking, both contestants had to work out what two-word phrase was hidden within the sequence.

Anna Finds The Answer As Stevie Falls Short Again
When time ran out, Lee turned to the finalists to hear their answers.
Stevie, who had also reached the final round in Wednesday’s episode, admitted she hadn’t managed to solve the puzzle. Her answer was described as something unreadable.
It was another frustrating finish for the contestant, who had now missed out on the final prize two nights in a row.
Anna, however, had a very different response.
She had written down “well done” – and, remarkably, it was exactly right.
Lee immediately announced the life-changing result:
“Congratulations Anna, you are the winner and get everything in the prize pot – £97,000.”
Clearly stunned by what had just happened, Anna could barely believe her luck.
“I can’t believe it!” she exclaimed.

The Clever Trick Behind The £97,000 Question
Despite looking like a confusing jumble of letters, the solution was actually much simpler than it first appeared.
Contestants needed to remove the letters that spell out the words “three words” from the sequence.
Once those letters were taken away, the remaining characters formed the phrase:
WELL DONE
That was the entire trick – and Anna was the only finalist to spot it in time.
Stevie’s second consecutive near-miss made the result even more remarkable, particularly given the enormous amount of money at stake.
Under the show’s Rollover format, Anna will return for Friday’s episode alongside Stevie and Sam.

Another Contestant Had Already Made History With A £194,000 Win
Anna’s incredible victory came just days after another contestant made headlines by claiming an even bigger jackpot on the ITV quiz.
Tuesday’s episode saw finalists Michelle and Nathaniel battle for a record-breaking £194,000, the largest prize ever awarded on The 1% Club.
Their final challenge involved a fictional bank card belonging to someone named Heidi Abbi Bedhead.

Lee presented the following question:
“Heidi Abbi Bedhead just got a new bank card. If the picture below displays the first 12 digits of the card number, what are the final four?”
The card graphic displayed:
8594 9122 9254 ????
With four digits missing, Michelle and Nathaniel had to work out what belonged in the final section.
Michelle went with 8154, while Nathaniel submitted 9214.
But only one of them had cracked the puzzle.

Michelle Gets The £194,000 Answer Right
Michelle was ultimately declared the winner after identifying the connection between the numbers and the alphabet.
The card’s digits corresponded to letters, with the missing section representing the word “head”.
The correct final four digits were 8514, the answer Michelle had identified.

Lee was visibly impressed by the scale of the win, remarking:
“Blimey, that is the most anyone has won on the show, obviously, as it’s a rollover. How do you feel?”
Michelle could hardly process the moment herself.
“I feel like this might be a dream,” she replied.
The 1% Club continues on Friday on ITV1, with episodes also available to stream on ITVX.
