The 1% Club Contestants Walk Away Empty-Handed After Failing To Crack £96,000 Final Question – Viewers Call It The “Easiest Ever”
The £96,000 prize was within reach, but one final question brought the game to a crushing end. And while the contestants struggled to find the answer, viewers watching at home were left stunned, insisting it was one of the easiest 1% Club challenges they had ever seen.
Fans tuned in to the latest episode of Lee Mack’s hit ITV quiz show, which aired on Saturday, February 1, 2025, expecting another tense battle of logic and general knowledge. Instead, the final moments sparked a wave of disbelief after the remaining players failed to secure the huge cash prize.

Five Contestants Left To Fight For The £10,000
The 1% Club brings together 100 contestants competing for a potential £100,000 prize pot through 15 logic-based questions.
The questions become progressively more difficult, starting with one that 90% of the population surveyed answered correctly before working down towards the notoriously challenging 1% question.
This time, five contestants made it all the way to the final stage.
Before facing the last challenge, they were offered a choice: take the guaranteed £10,000 between them, giving each player £2,000, or risk everything by attempting to answer the final question.
One contestant, Christopher, decided he had gone far enough. He collected his £2,000 share and walked away, leaving the others to take their chances.

The Final Question That Cost Them Everything
The remaining contestants were presented with a seemingly straightforward puzzle:
“The words below share a specific pattern. Why could VOTING also be part of the group?”
Three words appeared on screen:
- BANDLEADER
- NICKELODEON
- SILVERBACK
Only one contestant attempted to provide an answer. Unfortunately, they got it wrong.
That meant the remaining players missed out on the £96,000 prize, and nobody else walked away with any money.
Host Lee Mack, 56, then revealed the connection that had escaped the contestants.
Each word contained the name of a metal:
- BANDLEADER – LEAD
- NICKELODEON – NICKEL
- SILVERBACK – SILVER
- VOTING – TIN
It was the appearance of the metal names hidden within the words that formed the answer.

Viewers Left Baffled As They Brand It The “Easiest Ever”
While the contestants struggled under pressure, viewers at home seemed to have little trouble spotting the pattern.
Social media quickly filled with reactions from fans who could not understand how nobody managed to get the answer right.
One viewer wrote: “That was the easiest 1% question I can remember. Thought it must be wrong as it couldn’t be that easy. Amazed not one of them had a clue.”
Another commented: “Got this within five seconds was far too easy with silver and nickel as the start of the words and tin being the only other word in voting.”
A third revealed that even their 12-year-old had spotted the answer, writing: “My 12-year-old got this. Metals in the words.”
Meanwhile, another viewer simply asked: “That seemed a pretty easy 1% Question to me?!”
For the contestants, however, the final puzzle proved costly. Christopher at least secured his £2,000 before bowing out, while those who chose to gamble on the last question were left with nothing.
