King Charles Caught in Awkward Rainstorm as Queen Camilla Heads for Shelter With the Umbrella

King Charles III found himself at the centre of an amusing royal moment when a sudden downpour hit Antigua’s Independence Day parade, leaving the monarch standing in the rain and repeatedly calling for an umbrella while Queen Camilla had already made her way to a covered stand.
The incident took place at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, where the royal couple attended celebrations marking the 45th anniversary of Antigua and Barbuda’s independence.
Charles and Camilla were greeted with cheers as they stepped out of their car and onto the ceremonial dais. However, the weather quickly changed during the national anthem, with torrential rain sweeping across the parade ground.

Camilla Finds Shelter While Charles Searches for an Umbrella
As the rain intensified, Camilla turned towards the covered stand, holding her transparent umbrella. She was later seen sitting down with a faint, knowing smile as the King remained exposed to the downpour.

Charles stepped away from the dais, waving his arms and repeatedly asking his entourage, “Where’s the umbrella?”
While others hurried to find shelter, the monarch was left waiting in the rain. An umbrella was eventually brought to him, but he remained determined to continue with his official duties rather than abandon the ceremony.
The King proceeded with the inspection of the parade despite the difficult weather, meeting members of the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force and the Royal Police Force.
His determination was met with enthusiastic cheers from the crowd, who applauded him as he carried on through the storm.

King Continues His Royal Duties Despite the Downpour
The royal couple had travelled to the stadium to attend the Independence Ceremonial Parade, commemorating 45 years since Antigua and Barbuda gained independence.
Despite the interruption, the event continued, and Charles was able to complete his engagements. The visit also provided an opportunity for the King to meet four celebrated cricketing figures who have all received knighthoods.
Those he met included Sir Viv Richards, Sir Richie Richardson, Sir Andy Roberts and Sir Curtly Ambrose.
Although the sudden rain created an unexpected spectacle, Charles remained focused on the programme, earning another warm reception from the Antiguan crowds.
