KATE GARRAWAY RETURNS TO GMB AFTER BEING PULLED OFF AIR MID-SHOW — FANS REACT TO BROADCASTER’S UNEXPECTED COMEBACK
Kate Garraway has returned to Good Morning Britain after being forced off air earlier in the week and replaced during the live ITV programme.
The 59-year-old broadcaster was back in the presenter’s chair on Thursday, fronting the daytime show alongside Tom Swarbrick, 39, after her sudden departure on Monday sparked concern among viewers.
Fans were quick to welcome her return, with one writing on X: “Great to see (and hear) Kate back, pleased the voice is ok”.
KATE’S SUDDEN EXIT
Kate had opened Monday’s three-and-a-half-hour programme with a noticeably hoarse voice before leaving the studio midway through the broadcast.
Faye Barker swiftly stepped in to cover for her, while Sean Fletcher took over Kate’s presenting duties on Tuesday.
Ranvir Singh then fronted the news section on Wednesday and returned to that role on Thursday, alongside Kate and Tom as they took the lead presenting slots.
On Monday, Susanna Reid and Ed Balls explained to viewers that Kate had been sent home earlier than expected.
It came shortly after Kate presented a report about King Charles meeting technology bosses over AI, with her voice sounding considerably lower and croakier than usual.
‘WE HAVE PUT HER ON VOCAL REST’
Susanna explained that Kate’s voice had not fully recovered after she had been “belting it out” at the National Television Awards the previous week.
“As you may have noticed earlier this morning, Kate Garraway had a very hoarse voice,” Susanna told ITV viewers.
“She was belting it out at the National Television Awards last week and her voice has not fully recovered.
“So we have put her on vocal rest and Faye Barker has valiantly come to the rescue and is here with the rest of this morning’s news.”
Faye then joked: “It’s amazing what you can find in a cupboard when needed.”
FANS WELCOME HER BACK
By Thursday, Kate appeared to have fully recovered, with her voice back to normal as she returned to the programme.
Her comeback came after several days of different presenters filling her usual slot, making her return particularly noticeable to regular Good Morning Britain viewers.
The show’s team had also been in the spotlight at last week’s National Television Awards, where they were nominated in the Daytime category.
However, they ultimately lost out to rival ITV programme This Morning.
After a disrupted few days on air, Kate was finally back in her familiar seat — and viewers were clearly relieved to see and hear her back on GMB.
