A question 90% of people were expected to answer… somehow wiped out 14 contestants in seconds. What should have been one of the safest rounds on The 1% Club turned into complete chaos when a deceptively simple puzzle caught 14 players in the exact same mental trap, leaving the studio in stunned silence. As the answer was revealed, viewers admitted they would have made the very same mistake, proving that the biggest danger wasn’t the question itself—it was the confidence it created. Sometimes the easiest questions don’t test what you know… they test whether you can ignore the answer your brain wants to choose.

The 1% Club has knocked out 14 players with a very easy 90% question – but would you have got it right?

An episode of The 1% Club saw 100 contestants try and make it to the 1% question and be in with a chance to win a share of the jackpot.

But the first round saw several contestants crash out of the running thanks to a relatively simple question.

Host Lee Mack asked the question: “Oliver, Emily and Rosie count from one to twenty taking it in turns to say the numbers.

“Oliver says 1, Emily says 2, Rosie says 3 and so on. Who will say number 20?”

Lee then added: “You have 30 seconds to answer” before revealing that a massive 14 contestants had been knocked out once the time was up.

This meant they couldn’t continue towards the final question and a share of the jackpot.

He then revealed that the answer was Emily – As there are three of them they will count to number 18 in order finishing with Rosie.

Then Oliver will say 19 and Emily 20.

Lee then spoke to one of the knocked out contestants and said: “Jason what happened mate?”

Jason replied: “I lost all logic and just pressed a button and went for it.”

Lee then discovered that Jason worked in a chemical factory and quipped: “That sounds a bit dangerous for a man who is out in the first round.

Lee then jokingly imitated Jason and added: “The whole thing blew up – what happened? I dunno I panicked, I just pressed the button.”

Jason and the audience laughed at the quip before Lee moved on.

In another episode, players were left stumped by a difficult word riddle.

Lee asked the question: “There is a five letter word where if you remove the first letter a bit remains.

“If you remove the second letter that bit is still there and if you take away the third letter it continues to be in place.

“What is the word?”

He then revealed that the answer was the word Habit – which becomes ‘a bit’ then ‘bit’ and finally ‘it’.

Meanwhile, in a recent episode a brutal question left 23 contestants stunned and out of the game in one savage swoop.

Host Lee asked the question: “Including the word ‘and’, what is the only number out of the numbers below that uses every vowel exactly once when spelt out?”

The answers to choose from were 107, 206 or 305.

Lee joked: “Take as long as you need… as long as the time you need is 30 seconds.”

He then revealed the correct answer was 206.
